How many of you have stood around braai's and some dude walks in all high and mighty, around an hour later he's lekker drunk and starts talking about his GTi with Frieling software that killed off an M3?

Amazingly these guys will prove it to you!

Just to be emabarrased by the ///M and then to keep on talking **** of he doesn't get traction and he needs 102 octane and some meth injection yada yada yada!

It seems to me these guys are ALL OVER as I hear stories of them frequently! I don't race S3's because they have 4 wheel drive, the M3 is slower than the 135i, why would you even think of buying the M3?Get a 335i, 'coz its quicker!

Did it ever occur to these fools that some people just like the M3? The fact that its fast is a bonus! I've seen guys have GTi5 Frieling fettled plus S3 conversion. Race chipped M3's, beat them, and then they try bigger fish. In the process of trying bigger fish, they spend more on the engine, then fixing stuff like the clutch etc etc. This particular guy raced a V8 escort on slicks on the late night street antics...he obviously lost. Now my question is, does this guy not realise that just because he killed off an M3 that his car is NOT that quick? Worst still, he went and traded the GTi5 for a Frieling Fettled 09 S3!!! Then he started to race once again!!!

My point is, if your car is quick, there will ALWAYS be someone quicker than you! Accept it, admit it, make peace with it!:D

If you want a fast car, buy one. Dont mod a car into being fast.
From my experience I had a fairly worked uno turbo and TS. Sure they were pretty quick, but my reliability went out the window and when i was driving i was constantly listening for noises of things that could be breaking. At the time it was amusing to beat cars at almost 10x the price, but i kinda realise now the difference. When i manage to get a fairly quick car again, it will stay standard. I dont drive a car to compete with any nutter on the road, its all about the experience and enjoyment i get.

if the only reason you are driving a performance car, standard or not is for bragging rights and to beat some guy next to you , u might be missing the point

LOL true tau1z...

The problem is MOST people miss the point completely!!!

Having a 150kw car is cool, having a 400kw 760Li is also cool...people should learn to get the point!

LOL - Bugati not fastest anymore...

Point is, someone once told me: "Men who brag about their cars' performance to other men, are men who are either small in stature or small in package" they feel the need to proclaim that they have something better than the next person...

Also think it gets you more girls!!!

Make no mistake the M3 is a very fast car, not just on a straight but through the gears and around a bend ... it is and will always be the benchmark and for a good reason too. In every car review comparing the M3 to the RS4, C63 and IS-F lexus the M3 is still voted the best by every journal article... i recently had the pleasure of driving a C63 merc, and not to bash the merc, its a lovely car but just cant compete with the BMW's full package ...

to think BMW still gives a 5 yr/100 000km mplan with it ... amazing ... and yes anyone can mod their cars to be faster ... so what !? ... sometimes its more than just speed ... its the driver experience one gets ...

ok here is the outcome, same day same time, same conditions

2009 BMW 135i Manual (2300km on the clock)

vs

2008 BMW M3 DCT (6000km on the clock)

The outcome ...

0-250km/h ... M3 in front off the line, M3 still in front of the 135i (2 cars in front at 250km/h)

thats up here at altitude ...both my ex cars ... :)

through the gears ... cars rolling second, rolling third etc ... the 135i is quicker then .... around the twisties the M3 will trounce the 135i ...

EDIT: having had a 335i and 135i, id still take an M3 anyday over those two cars even if they were chipped and quicker ...

Hey koeks - just to clarify: 100km/h in the 135i is the same speed as 100km/h in the M3.
