Today it's make or break or Nokia

Agreed, the industry is crying out for a strong 3rd contender. It's pretty much a 2 horse race at the moment but Nokia has the ability to turn things upside down.

And the strength of this thread is a good indication of how far Nokia have got to go to get there..... :o

I had 3 Nokia phones so far in my life, were the best phones I ever had. I'm using a BB today, cost wise it's saves me money with BIS, but if I had the spare change I would definitely get another Nokia Phone.

It's going to be a busy month. Nokia, Motorola, Amazon,Apple and HTC making announcements on new devices.

Yip, cannot compete with BB/BIS when it comes to value for money but maybe it's time to treat yourself to a brand spanking new Lumia 920!!!! Come on, yah know you wanna!!!! :p

Agreed!! And my upgrade is due!!!! Happy days!!!

I cant wait and I am liking the slim look, I wonder at what price range these will be?

I've lost a bit of faith in wp8 since actually getting the lumia. It's just such a buggy os. Very pretty and all, but all, these bugs. It's like ms stopped knowing how to make bulletproof software which used to be their forte.

Mmmm, sadly, that would be a deal breaker IMHO.

I don't think it's totally their fault. Some of it is lack of buy in from app developers. But this morning watching mrsc yelling at her phone didnt imbue me with confidence.

Are you talking about missing features or bugs? There have been very very few actual bugs, especially ones that effect the user.
The biggest one so far has been the dissapearing keyboard, which happened very infrequently, and was fixed quickly (although it took ages for carriers to let it through).

What I have seen of windows phone 8 it really seems like an OS that fits my needs perfectly although 4" screens are way too big for my tastes.

I am due for an upgrade in Nov, hopefully Cell will get their act together so that I can get an early Christmas pressie. My last two handsets were Nokia's (Currently N8 & previously E71). Up to now I was looking forward to upgrade to the Samsung SIII, now today the news breaks on Nokia, so I am back at the drawing board, which phone to choose.....

I would be in agreement with you all the way. My WP device has been BUG FREE as expected inclusive of my older Windows Mobile 6.5 device which is still in good working order WITHOUT BUGS, the perfect mobile OS.

Just wondering if the "Whatsapp" problems of your good lady was the bases of your comment???? It certainly looks like it :D

In my view the Andriod,Apple,Blackberry and Symbian will always try and find fault and this been the norm for many years and I include the Networks in my statement.

That has never ever been their forte. Ever. The last thing Windows is praised on is stability.

Nokia will have to prove themselves from scratch.

This means selling off their phones at normal tariffs without any subsidizing from M$ et al.

That's all I'm going to say for now.

Right because Linux is so trouble-free.

Yebo :(. That and it can't seem to log into her Live account either. Or maker her Googlemail her primary Google account. And when you type a long SMS you can't flick up and down to see what you've written. Or that could just be WA i'm not certain there.

Believe me I want to love it. I would like to back WP8 since it's doing what I think a UI should - it's great looking and smooth.

Yeah, the keyboard getting in the way of a long email is a bit silly, but you can get around it if you don't mind the extra step:
PRESS the back button, it will drop the keyboard and it will show your whole message (unsent) in the chat view.
