I believe that the mind is strong enough to repair your body and any illness it carries. As long as you have the will, it is possible to reverse any illness you have. Naturally, you need to ensure that your diet is correct and that you are exercising. It is for this reason that I have decided to stop using the Anti-Retroviral drugs prescribed to me and begin using Homeopathic medication.

Eleven years ago, at the height of my recreational drug addiction, I contracted HIV. I was high on crack cocaine and invincible, and my sexual negligence had me issuing my own death sentence.

He made bad life decisions by taking drugs and contracting HIV... now he's making another bad decision by turning to homeopathy. I think life is trying to tell him something.

One of those New Thought freaks?

New Thought, sometimes known as Higher Thought,[1][2] promotes the ideas that Infinite Intelligence, or God, is everywhere, spirit is the totality of real things, true human selfhood is divine, divine thought is a force for good, sickness originates in the mind, and "right thinking" has a healing effect.

I wonder if a strong mind coupled with homeopathic medication could cure ebola.

The body is a marvellous thing. You have countless records of tumours disappearing, People being HIV Immune and the likes. I'm not saying this guy isn't an idiot, however, never write off the human body. Just to be clear, people who survive Ebola up to now didn't do so because of medication :p

That being said, this guy is a Retard

Thinking oneself immune to HIV... really? :erm:

Also Ebola, like many diseases, doesn't have a 100% mortality rate, it never did. Some of us are strong enough to be able to survive it, like most of us are strong enough to fight off the flu but some aren't.

Not what I said, he is a retard ;)

Edit: No one thinks themselves immune to HIV. Some people ARE immune to HIV, that is a fact. I'm talking about the powers of the human body, not the train of thought :p

No doubting the guy is a retard but he made think. Now I'm at a point where I figure I could sell some herbs in a packet, call it a Herbal Ebola cure, add a disclaimer that water and "a strong mind" is required for it to work. When it doesn't then I can just say your mind isn't strong enough :D

What? You think they didn't get any treatment? :erm:

Fair enough.

On a related note: For an appreciation of how awesome sleeping is, and how powerless our bodies are against prions, check out Fatal Familial Insomnia.

No they got treatment for the symptoms.

Ebola has no cure, few survive and others don't with the same treatments. You know exactly what I'm saying don't make something into something it's not. It's not the treatments that make people survive, some bodies are just more resilient than others.

It isn't miraculous though that people survive Ebola. It simply, like almost all diseases, doesn't have a 100% mortality rate. Some of us are strong enough to fight it off while others aren't, like flu just with more numbers on the "dead" side.

I'm not claiming it to be though. The human body is a very funny and little understood topic.[-] I'm pretty sure it can do anything it wants apart from regrown limbs[/-] :p

Edit: I guess the body can regrow limbs

I know you're not claiming it is.

We know a heck of a lot about the human body. We know little about molecular biology and its associated fields (genetics etc.) but that isn't limited to the human body.

The humna body can definitely not do anything it wants apart from regrow limbs. It suffers from autoimmune disorders, genetic abnormalities, lactic acid buildup after extended periods of exersion, immune systems unable to combat most viruses and cancers effectively (heck even carbohydrate encapsulated bacteria give our immune systems a serious run for their money), prions pretty much devastate us, we use the same pipe to eat, drink and breathe out of leaving us vulnerable to choking (other animals such as dolphins don't have this problem)... the list of common imperfections and inadequacies goes on and on.

The treatment they get plays a significant role in them surviving, even if it isn't the Ebola that directly gets treated.
