That's it um bringing my car to you to clean. Thanks. We can make it a day out. I'll bring beers or even better I'll take you out for beers and a burger
Cliffnotes: ...I only wanted an AP2 (2006 onwards) which came with stability assist and a whole range of other enhancements. Unlike those found in most other countries, the South African AP2 S2000 retains the 2 litre, 9,000rpm engine found in the AP1 version of the car
So TehStranger is cheap and easy?
@TehStranger, was it you by any chance in that dark silver S2000 on the N3 South just before Gilooly's IC around the 17h00 to 17h30 mark?

Cool car - looks clean - I have an 08 - same colour. Technically the UK/SA ones are still AP1s - just with all the AP2 bits like the VSA and the less tricky rear suspension (and without the silly 2.2 F22C engine). You will see your VIN is something like JHMAP1...
I recommend Modifry Top Straps if your convertible elastic straps are tired (from the SA sun) to prevent future roof damage. I also use their GPS mount.
...means you probably have the Ap2V3 wheels?.
I do, I think I prefer your kind though - but people seem to like the v3s... Might have been on Malibongwe
I saw the previous owner of mine had the roof done a while back for R24k under warranty. Lol. I also have that modifry cubby organiser. I put on the k&n intake a while ago - sounds angry
Another difficult to diagnose issue is the car just being a little jerky and hard to drive (it is very subtle but annoying in traffic - you might not realise there is a problem). Would sometimes give a code P21138 code - but would be okay again after an ECU reset and idle. Replaced the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor - quick and easy to DIY and the car was fantastic again.

I also fell in love with the S2000 years ago. Have had my 2006 model now for around 7 years and still love to drive it. You only truly appreciate the brilliance of this engine after 6500rpm when Vtec kicks in and it starts to scream.
Know you will love every minute of this car. There will always be haters but they are the ones that have never driven an S
Who in their right mind would be hatin' on the S2000 ?
I prefer my V1s too, though the V3s would be second choice. Thanks for the tips, I've scoured S2Ki for every possible problem to try and recognise it before it becomes an issue, but touch wood nothing yet. I'm pretty handy with a spanner and have spent a fair bit of time working on cars, so will tackle any small faults that come my way.
The plan was to keep this as stock as possible, but I've since found Qube Engineering's custom LED cluster that really update the look of the car:

Needless to say some pennies are going away!
What engine oil and diff fluid are you using? I'm running Shell Helix 5w30 and Redline diff fluid. Honda agents have been known to accidentally use the incorrect diff fluid and wreck diffs.
When I got my S just over a year ago I told myself that I would leave it completely stock as I threw way too much money at my WRX STi I had before that. The S is so nice stock and when you drop the roof down it just puts a massive smile on your face. I think the only thing I wanted to change was the exhaust note, other than that it was 'perfect' at the time. Then I made the mistake of taking it to track day. First session was amazing, being my first proper RWD driver's car, I was totally in love and still thought I didn't want to change anything other than maybe exhaust. Then I spent some time online researching what could be done to them and the bug bit me. They can become incredible with the right mods.
Considering your year model you really shouldn't have any problems. It's still a Honda even though you can rev it to 9,000 all day, mine's been faultless so far. With proper and regular maintenance it will last a lifetime.
That Qube LED cluster does look great, I was eyeing one earlier this year. This is what I've done to mine so far just to make it more 'trackable': Baffled oil sump, front strut brace, decat dual exit exhaust, Stoptech slotted discs, Ferodo DS2500 pads, brake ducting, J's shifter, HKS coilovers. It still perfectly driveable, but works way better on track now. Next up will be a stiffer front swaybar. My want/to-do list grows by the day though :wtf:
