Ok, so we have reached the stage where we need to have a visit from the toothmouse.

Eldest came crying to me this morning, she hurt her tooth while eating. So I checked it out and said it is nothing to worry about. Her tooth is loose, meaning she will soon be getting her new teeth.

She is very excited about the whole thing. Discovered a bit later that both bottom teeth are loose, and not just the one.

Now, I need to know: how much should the tooth mouse be paying her?

It is a token.. not an enrichment act in my eyes!

I know one idiot parent who puts R50 per tooth! Just silly and then makes your child feel inferior when you put R10 or less.

It used to be coins only... I'd say R10 max. Remember money has little value at that age anyway.

I have to agree with you there.

Its a mouse!! Not a fairy. Fairies are gay :D
Mice give R5 for tooth, so that they can add it to their piano made of little teeth. Apparently.

The tooth mouse steals the tooth and doesn't leave any money. The tooth fairy leaves money.

Btw how old is she?

I remember my brother (only & youngest) getting a R2.00 note...that was big money in those days.

Imagine in a few years they find out you lied to them about Santa Clause, the tooth fairy-mouse and various other bull****...

All that trust you bothered building all those years will all just dissipate into thin air and you then sit with teenage rebels telling you to **** off and they go out to get pregnant and overdose on drugs...

....or you could do it the AcidRazor way and just tell them when they are first able to understand that there is no Father Christmas, no Easter Bunny, no Tooth Fairy and destroy their imagination and childhood fantasies there and then in one foul swoop. They will then grow up bitter and feeling the need to spoil it for every other child who does believe and fantasise. They will probably become bullies and juvenile delinquents... all because you begrudged them a few rand when they lost a tooth!

Why would anyone want to teach a child that every time you lose something someone will be there to compensate you?

No, actually, reading is the best form of opening their imaginations. That and a pitchfork, but the latter is a bit extreme and frowned upon.

I also believe no kid should get cake for their birthday if they're under 6 years old....

That's how the Americans do it. Everyone gets a trophy... "Good Job! High Five!"

What happens at the age of 6? Do their cake-eating glands mature?

Nope, actually scratch that. Any kid under the age of 16 shouldn't get sweets. You **** up their lives with that processed sugar and then you stuff them full of drugs because they have attention deficit disorder.... go ... go ahead and feed a 3 year old a bar of chocolate and see how long their attention span lasts....

Your parents didn't hug you enough as a child, did they? :p

Shame, all I can say is that I hope you two never have children.

No one lost anything anyway. The tooth is in their possession. It is about teaching them economics. If you have something that someone else wants they will pay you for it.
