We're looking to hire a top developer for SnapBill.com and really struggling to find anyone locally. We've been considering branching out and having someone telecommute but especially for an earlier hire it seems like a bad plan.

Anyone know of good places to advertise jobs locally, or alternatively anyone who might be interested? [If so please PM me or email josh at snapbill]

We've tried the MyBB job board, memejobs and a bunch of other places but running out of ideas.

The HTML on your site doesn't validate, so I (the top developer in SA) am going to have to decline.

If you bothered about html you are not who we are looking for, but thanks for pointing this out. :D

The system was written in PHP, and yes I know it is quite likely for PHP code to be reasonable - but it is.

Since we don't have many developers at the moment, the areas you would be working in *is* kind of vague, and really up for debate.

* We're looking at running multiple clusters in different continents so if that interests you we can work on that. We also need to be ridiculously stable, and run of a transaction based relational db so that comes with its own set of challenges.
* We're working on an unique REST based API, which is quite interesting.
* We have a lot of frontend Javascript development for the UI
* We have some backend inter-api communication going on behind the scenes, along with encryption schemes
* We deal with massive quantities of mail, so thats always fun
* We'll look at getting Blackberry/iPhone/Android applications starting next year
* Our system has a white-label reseller built on and provides website hosting, so automating cpanel is up there (and yes, cpanel is meant to automate itself)
* ..., theres quite a lot more. Suffice to say whatever your interests are theres likely something you can help out with.

@Qix: OK, I now understand. You guys are growing, have no idea (sorry not in a bad way) of where to go from here with regards to the technology you will use but are open to ideas (good approach) to achieve your goals.

Sounds like an average day at work for me.

Question is: Do you have good coffee, and I really mean GOOD?

What area are you based in?

More to the point, where do you require the developer to be?
