Top Gun Maverick

Thankfully , Ster-Kinekor done a rerun this week, just got home,

Seriously enjoyed the movie, bit of a predictable plot, but the visuals and sound make up for it( at least in imax)

The wife and I went to see it in IMAX on Saturday. When I scanned the ticket for entry, I realised that I had bought tickets for the Friday show. One does not get Discovery discount to see the same movie more than once, so I had to repay, this time full price. I must be eligible for a couple of levels in the Church of Scientology for how much I paid.

It was better than the original, though. Quite enjoyable.

that's what happens when it takes you so many years to come up with a sequel,

I liked it as it mirrored a real life mission,
The flight scenes in the new one seemed easier to absorb than the original.

The whole ensemble of completely unlikeable characters was similar to the original, but somehow it worked better. The probability of events happening ("stealing" an experimental aircraft with which to reach a record speed from a military base, etc) was just as low in the sequel as the original, but hey - it is only entertainment.

better than the original?

Let say if you seen the original... a new story now, references to the 1st one, taking the level a bit more up (as in setting the bar) related to movies with planes.

Worth watching on the big screen

It's that fcken sk app. On a Tuesday, I booked tickets for a Friday (smack bang in middle of iMax cinema). All goood

On Friday , enter cinema , and see someone sitting in my seats. Tell them they in my seats and they show me that they have the same seats. Go outside to find out. Then I see my QR code :- tickets were booked for the day (Tuesday) I booked them. I know I selected Friday.

They let us go back in at sit at front of cinema. That was painful. At least I got to see it .

**** that. I would have asked for a refund.

seeing as its the last week on Imax, and 4dx , im contemplating making round 2 the 4dx , how was it?
I quite enjoyed it in 4DX. Was my first time in 4DX, but after watching it in IMAX I thought that this would probably be the best one to try out 4DX. I wasn't dissappointed

Though I enjoyed it, I don't think all the praise it gets is fully deserved. Much of the plot and characters were copied and pasted from the first one. As far as stunts and VFX are concerned, it's impressive, but this is basically the same thing we saw in the original movie from over 30 years ago.
