Top Gun Maverick

Really? Maverick felt like movie-making by checklist.
High speed flying, check.
Musical number, check.
Moustache, check.
Beach and babyoil, check.
Relationship drama, check.
Personal grudge, check.

You missed the wet seat on your 'checklist". Back then it was extremely important that there be heroes that would leave cinema seats wet where women sat. This was the golden rule in the 80's and it worked like charm to get cines filled and keep them rolling.

Beter than:
Political agenda, check.
Liberal social commentary, check.
Token minority representative, check.

Man, old Tom still gets the ladies all defensive if you say anything bad about him.

I liked the movie, but my Stranger Things marathon happened a couple of days after seeing it and thoroughly dominated my entertainment mind space.

8/10, would forget again.

Finally watched it. 9/10

It was great. The only -1 I would give the movie was to have even more flying action in it.

There was no political message.
There was no the world will end scenario.
The Drama/Story was spun around the conflict between Rooster (Goose's son) and Maverick and the training of pilots who where a bit in over their heads before coming to the realisation of the scope of the job and the value of human life in these missions.

It's a fighter jet story for people who likes fighter jets.

I wanted to drop it by 2 because of one line near the end where rooster asks why the F14 Tomcat wings are moving because no one that even remotely likes these jets let alone navy pilots doesn't know about the icon of navy jets but meh. It was meant to entertain the audience.

The "enemies" did have Red Stars on their military-implements.
Perhaps they were low-key pentagrams?

Eventually....
