Why is the "Nexus 7 32GB 3G Wi-Fi" model so much more expensive than the model it replaced?

The "16GB Wifi only" model was about R2999. The 32GB 3G version is almost R1000 more.

Google priced them both at $299 even when the 3G version replaced the 16GB version so surely the "32GB 3G Wi-Fi" model should be around the R2999 mark as well?

Hmm, the 32GB 3G WiFi model doesn't replace anything. The 16GB WiFi-only launched at $250, and dropped to $199 with the launch of the 32GB WiFi-only at $250.

The 32GB WiFi+3G model launched at $299 at about the same time.

Most likely, local channels are waiting for the 16GB model to clear out before they drop the 32GB WiFi-only model to match the 16GB launch price of approx R3000.

Of course, the depressing part is that if you can buy one in the US, you can get the 32GB WiFi+3G for less than price of the 16GB WiFi-only in SA at present.
