Not for another 3 years at least. Multichoice/ Supersport holds all the rights to the good stuff/ live events. I was so licking my lips for an announcement regarding SyFy or Horror Channel. Any new channels would do at this point. So I suppose ASTV is the only new channel for October then? Now lets see what DSTV comes up with to celebrate their Birthday.....

Unless they will be providing the drive and enclosure, I can imagine the issues TopTV are going to unleash on themselves by having everyone trying their own combo of hardware. Age, access speeds and heat dissipation come to mind straight away.

Well the announcement wouldn't be that TTV is providing a PVR.

Stargate has vanished in the last few days (even though the EPG says it is on). Some pointless footballers program replaced it.

why do I have to pay to view ASTV cause it is a FTA channel on DSTV with code found on there website I have been watching ASTV now for over a year but dont watch it any more because it is now doring

Yeah, their EPG seems to have gone all dodgy in the past week. Oddly enough their online guide is still accurate.
 
AsTV Channel 177 is live - between eTV and Star. No other new channels yet .....
 
they should get new content on the current channels like fx, surely they can replace those las vegas repeats with something else.

Please write to them on all their e-mails. I understand that DSTV has been putting pressure on their syndicated channels supplied by the likes of Sony (SET) and Universal Channel to get their content up to grade. It does look a bit better on these channels with new content and more variety. TopTV needs to tell their suppliers especially Fox Entertainment (Africa) and Fox FX (Africa) they need to get out of the dark ages and start broadcasting more current shows and LESS REPEATS. It is really damaging the entire TopTV platform with these weak content channels. If they will listen is another story. In the mean time we must pay subscriptions for tv from the stone age.
 
Well . FOX FX is bringing us "the Walking Dead" , wich is being released 31 OCTOBER in the US , Starts NOVEMBER ON TOPTV . Its a brand spanking never been seen show , and they already snatched it. They Compare it to TRUE BLOOD and say it will be EVEN BETTER .ZOMBIES ......... Mwahhahahaha.......... So , Patience my friends . Theres a lot happening behind the scenes .

Kerrang! make it worth my r250 as its the price for one music DVD ...
 
Another thing , I think ASTV got some potential , but MultiChoice kept their channel "hidden", (probably because its direct competition to KYKNET). Now they have the platform and are able to expand local AFRIKAANS content. They also will have some investment coming from advertisement and ONDIGITAL may even invest themselves as its for the local market .
 
Potentially TopTv could get CBS Reality (which has been a rumored possibility) and E4, Comedy Centeral and Syfy seeing as though they are on the same bouquets of channels Current TV was taken from. So if Toptv really did their negotiating well and paid for some high end channels (which doesn't seem likely judging from the launch of this ASTV channel) then it will be sublime.
 
If you are enjoying the so called new
channel ASTV buy the end of this month you will be so tired of it, what they are screening now has been screened for the last six months and no change at all.

So if this is the first time you are watching ASTV enjoy whiles it lasts

I hope they get zone horror

Multichoice did not hide the channel, as it was never part of DStv. It was on the Sentech bouquet, along with all those religious channels and SABC TV and radio stations. You could pick it up on the public bouquet simply because it was on the same satellite, used MPEG2 compression, DVB-S and not encrypted.
