TopTV and new channels.

But thats where my problem is. Yes I love watching Stargate,Jerry Seinfeld and Simpsons, but they don't have one current premium show or movie. The only channels worthwhile are the Discovery channels.
 
Hoping for a new kids, new series/comedy/sci fi and obviously some better movies.
 
Im not too impressed with Top Tv, and am giving them a fair chance.
You can only watch so many old shows before you get tired of it.

HIFI corp's DSTV installations at R499 is looking SOOOO tempting.

TopTv is like 2 week old stale bread for R5 while I can get fresh bread (DSTV) for R9.95. R5 a loaf sounds great until you actually have to eat it.
 
Any news when the press conference will take place today to announce the new channels starting tomorrow as promised? These guys are missing such a huge opportunity to create hype around their product. Their silence is deafening...
 
Just read now on their facebook page that the USB port will be used for pvr functunality - confirmed by toptv when a user asked what it's for. Did not reply when it will be enabled.
I'm also wondering about what new channels will be forthcoming.....*crickets chirping*...
 
There used to be a person on MYBB that worked for SpaceTv which helped a lot before TopTv first launched. Unfortunately can not remember the name, maybe if someone knows the person, he/she can shed more light on the supposedly "new channels". Why is TopTv so scared of announcing - MC always makes a big deal of announcing new channels, why not TTV? I would rather support the little guy than the bigwig who has milked us for many years (talking about experience - been a DStv subscriber since they launched and happily cancelled when TTV started).
 
Old Series are fine, but going through the 4th or 5th repear of SG-1 Season 1 is getting a bit much, at least start showing the newer seasons. Got Top TV when it first started, and am hoping for some fresh programming tomorrow (if they mean 1st October when they tallk about the new programming).

I have a Sonicview FTA decoder, and it has PVR functionality. I gave up on it because the interface was not that good, and quite frankly was not as reliable as a good old all-in-one PVR or DVR.
Unless they will be providing the drive and enclosure, I can imagine the issues TopTV are going to unleash on themselves by having everyone trying their own combo of hardware. Age, access speeds and heat dissipation come to mind straight away.
