TopTV and new channels.

Downloaded the schedule from http://fxafrica.tv/ and filtered by fearfactor below, pay attention to the season number as scroll down on each day.

As I understand it, TopTv is targeted at the lower income groups.
That being the case, we cannot expect the most expensive shows from them. However, their program is on internet- hardly where the lower income groups spend their time.
Way to save money for TopTv is to start a series right at the beginning, and run with it, even if a year ot two old (except TopGear - cause it gets dated).
In my case, I enjoy "The West Wing" but there are so many reruns that I am totally confused and frustrated by this, so I have stopped watching.
I would prefer to know that at a certain time on a given day I can sit down and watch the next episode in the sequence, even if it means starting over again.

I 100% agree. This has been our argument since I noticed that they are repeating everything especially on FoxFX as from day one of their launch. If they have to repeat keep Prime Time slots open for new episodes/ shows. Repeats to be kept out of prime time. I have said to TopTV through their panel that their are 1000's of episodes of older shows out there as AstroTurf has said. TopTV can easily show a complete Season 1 of a show and go straight into Season 2,3,4 etc...they are way behind the USA air dates.
As was pointed out, FoxFX and Fox Entertainment are syndicated channels like Sony Entertainment TV and Universal channle on DSTV. They are terrible with their repeats and crazy all over the place with their episodes. Nothing makes sense after a while. I just stop watching. TopTV has a channel of their own called TopOne which has dedicated timeslots and makes sense. It has the potential to become their strongest asset. They are showing Dexter next month, Numbers starting tonight, and The Sopranos. All starting at Season 1. They must sort out TopCrime with all the dubbed nonsense shows.
I just hope they add some good channels in September as promised. We are holding thums for Horror channel, SyFy, Zone reality, CBS Action, CBS Drama and Food. These channels are in their budget I reckon.
 
Those new channels are so important for Top TV's future........

I just heard on Cape Talk that Top TV are possibly embarrassed to reveal their subscriber numbers.

I hope they really listen to what the people want, because its not like they can follow suit like DSTV with ignoring complaints or not hearing suggestions.

All they have to do is fill their bouquets with the channels that DSTV lacks[Yes there are holes], as i have stated in my emails to them.

I really do not want Multichoice to crush Top TV before they have had a chance to fight them.

Im sure their are alot of people such as i, who supplement the lack of content from TOP TV by downloading their favorite shows, and for sport get gesuip at a pub/friends/family=Great times!

They must bring the horror channel too as im tired of my DSTV colleagues laughing at my Top TV!
Your recommendations along with a horror channel should shut them up.

I use my cellphone and opera mini cant open pages with flash.

Tomorrow will be D-day if nothing new, off goes TTV for the next 3 months and turn DSTV on for 3 months

Lol, thanks. I'm glad I came across it and hopes TopTV seriously considers those channels. I also sent them a list of channels, recommending Horror Channel as well as alternatives such as The Anime Network, Fuse, Bravo, Jetix/Toonami and The CW. TopTV's best shot at success is listening to the public...
 
They should get the EPL I don't think SS has exclusive rights to it but if they do they could get MUTV, Liverpool TV or Arsenal TV.

Also new series on Top One, Numbers.

Anyway, I have no idea how anyone can watch everything that shows on TopTV in 3 months (unless you have a very limited genre that entertains you).

So far whenever I hit a rerun on fox I switch to top or one of the discovery channels, always something new (to me) to watch.

Same here with me....
 
Instead of new TopTV chanels could it not be possible to have less repeats. I have been a subscriber since inception and am finding less and less to watch. The History chanel was my best however I now no longer even check it out as there is nothing to watch except repeats. The same aplies to the movie chanels with some movies being repeated a half a dozen times a day and others on a regular basis since TopTV started. Endless repeats can only be tolerated for so long.
 
TopTV values subscriber feedback because it contributes to our understanding of what needs to be changed in order to deliver an excellent product and service. In this case a series which first began when the TopTV service was introduced was only seen by a limited number of subscribers. With a rapidly-growing subscriber base, we realised, when the series came to an end, that there were a large number of subscribers who had not seen the earlier transmissions.

Therefore there was value in repeating the series as the majority of our subscribers would not have seen it before. We knew that this would not be appreciated by our early subscribers who may have already seen the broadcasts, and this is borne out in the complaints raised here. However, it was felt that the satisfaction which later subscribers would get from these retransmissions (as most would have missed them) would outweigh the inconvenience caused to those who had seen them before. TopTV were also mindful of the fact that if a subscriber came across something which they had seen before, they are able to switch to an alternative channel on the platform for something of interest – at least for the limited period of the retransmission.

Using your logic, you never have to get new shows to broadcast. Just repeat them every 3 months for all of your new subscribers.
