TopTV and new channels.

Using your logic, you never have to get new shows to broadcast. Just repeat them every 3 months for all of your new subscribers.

This is what I told them in an e-mail as well. I got the snotty reply, I can watch another channel and find something of interest. The only way to protest this is to cancel. I will check them out in 3 months time again. Going through their TV guide on their website there is very little new stuff. I still maintain that repeats could have been broadcast outside of prime time slots and new shows could have been broadcast between 19h00-22h00. They have chased away a large portion of the 50 000 who signed up at the beginning. They may have 120 000 decoders/ subscribers out there, but how many have cancelled of the original 50 000? It is bad planning and a lack of professional people to manage the various channels.

I signed up only after Arrested Development had it's main run ... there were a couple of episodes shown after midnight. I am looking foward to a new run, but sometimes think I would be better served with uncapped ADSL, widescreen MKV's, and a lack of conscience.

They are going into Season 4.
Agree, Family Guy is excellent. A friend has given me Seasons 1-6 in DivX format. I am catching up on that.

TopTV values subscriber feedback because it contributes to our understanding of what needs to be changed in order to deliver an excellent product and service. In this case a series which first began when the TopTV service was introduced was only seen by a limited number of subscribers. With a rapidly-growing subscriber base, we realised, when the series came to an end, that there were a large number of subscribers who had not seen the earlier transmissions.

Therefore there was value in repeating the series as the majority of our subscribers would not have seen it before. We knew that this would not be appreciated by our early subscribers who may have already seen the broadcasts, and this is borne out in the complaints raised here. However, it was felt that the satisfaction which later subscribers would get from these retransmissions (as most would have missed them) would outweigh the inconvenience caused to those who had seen them before. TopTV were also mindful of the fact that if a subscriber came across something which they had seen before, they are able to switch to an alternative channel on the platform for something of interest – at least for the limited period of the retransmission.

Toptv please can you say if you can get FTA satellite channels, if yes, which ones do you get and can you put in your own frequencies?

Just as long as TOPTV refunds the loyal subs that where with them from the start and must now suffer because of their loyalty.

Cant tell us to change to another channel because they are all on repeat.

Just got email that confirmed the Afrikaans channel, Astv, will be part of top tv from 1 October2010. This is good news for the few Afrikaners like me wanting afrikaans media....Hopefully they will receive more funding to be able to put together programs like kyknet have

Unlikely, unless you mean producing shows like Kyknet has. Most of Kyknet's stuff is funded by Multichoice.

AStv is free to air on IS7/10 on the Sentech bouquet. You can get it with any non-HD Dstv decoder, and indeed any FTA decoder. Good to see they are spending some money here ... NOT!

I will be very surprised to see any new content on the Fox channels after another 3 months. I just do not think they are that type of channel that would have new premium content. TopTV's best bet is to improve the content on their own channels.

I see Kruiskyk is also a new channel in October, it's a pity that all the FTA channels currently on DStv is moving to a paid subscription base. Maybe someone saw a quick gap to make moola, who knows?

Just saw a comment on the TopTV facebook page that 4music and a reality channel (CBS reality) will be one of the upcoming channels together with ASTV.
