TopTV DIY Installation

I did a DIY because I have a 1.2M Fiber glass dish on a Diseqc Motor - basicall sweep from 22deg West to 36 Deg East

basically watch PSAT on W3A 7E and ODM on 4.8E

So just hooked up the ODM box did a scan plus software update - now cannot get the Setup PIN to continue

Waiting for them to call to activate - I will just have the installer drop of my dish . LNB and 20m cable at the office

TopTV LNB

Yep - Got it working. Use dish settings provided by http://www.dishpointer.com/

TopTV Satellite: sirius 4 satellite, 4.8 degrees east

Are you using the same LNB as for DSTV, i.e. the 9750mHz/10700mHz? The TopTV installers are informing that I need the 9750mHz/10600mHz because the DSTV one will not work, also that I need a new satellite dish? I had my DSTV working on the 30cm dish! Please advise.

When cards inserted - it says - "This is not a viewing card" ??/ huh

Does this message change after activation ?

check the card is fully inserted and in the correct orientation.

it should say "this card is not authorized" when it's not activated. if it says "inserted card is not a viewing card", then it's not detecting the card correctly.

You can change the 10600 setting to 10700

30cm is way too small 80cm or higher

How do you change the 10600 to 10700 on the top box? It seems hardcoded. I have the 10700 LNB and an 80cm DSTV fibre-glass dish.

Got a dish & lnb from ellies today and performed a self install.

The decoder did a software upgrade and has rebooted and I had to go through the same first time instalation menus as before and its now at the signal level detection.

How does one proceed beyond this?

Was there anything specific you guys did on the decoder to get it to work?It keeps showing that there is no signal even though the dish is aligned correctly and it says tune unlocked.

Make sure you're using the correct LNB. If you're using the multichoice one you need to adjust the settings on the decoder as per one of the previous posts in this thread.

how sit is the normal dish &lnb work for top tv

Depends on dish size - anything from 80cm up should be fine but perhaps a 60cm might work if you have clear line of sight.

Use www.dishpointer.com to determine direction and attitude to sirius4 but it will generally be in a northerly direction (mine was about 330 magnetic) and about 50 degrees up.

Use dishpointer.com to determine difference in IS7/10 (for dstv) and S4 for TopTV - things will become clear when you see the difference in direction.

Does one have to or can one activate the card before doing the Setup?

Does one have to or can one activate the card before doing the Setup?

Their call centre closes at 6...
By the way has anyone checked for any FTA channels on their satellite?
Is there anyway to check the signal before activating the card.
I get to the screen where the signal is zero, but nothing after that...

It seems like UEC software has blocked out the other satelite lookups because the manual seems to give the impression that this supposed to be an FTA box (internationally) as well.

The card can only be activated after you've tuned it to the correct sat - obviously because the decoder will not be able to receive the actual activation prior to being pointed to the correct sat and having a good enough receive quality/strength.

After tuned to correct sat you you will get past the signal detection meter thingum and it will perform a software upgrade, reboot and eventually end up in the main software for the decoder which will give you access to the menu's the program guide etc etc but no channels. you will be presented with an "card is not activated" error message until you call the call center and have it activated.

1. Use www.dishpointer.com to determine the direction in which your dish must point.
2. Make sure you make it point high enough up (this is also mentioned on dishpointer) as it is a good 10-15 degrees higher than the DSTV one.
3. Make sure you twist the LNB to the correct side (this would be opposite to the tilt for DSTV which is also mentioned on dishpointer.com)
4. If you're using your old LNB you will need to adjust the LO frequency on the decoder during the initial setup from 10600 to 10700 to match that of the LNB - There is a previous post which explains how to do this.

Is the blue key locked? If it is open there is no signal, once it is closed, the signal strength & quality bars will fill-up with an orange colour.

What did you use to find your satellite?

Many thanks! Are you using the Dreambox? Does it work with TopTV? I have the DM500 and it not have does Sirius 4, it has Sirius 5 & TopTV mentioned that they are moving to Sirius 5 much later (next year or so), is it possible to add a satellite to the Dreambox manually?
