Many thanks! Are you using the Dreambox? Does it work with TopTV? I have the DM500 and it not have does Sirius 4, it has Sirius 5 & TopTV mentioned that they are moving to Sirius 5 much later (next year or so), is it possible to add a satellite to the Dreambox manually?
I am using the TopTV decoder which seems to work fine except I'm already missing the PVR functionality which I've got on the HDPVR but that's no biggie as I plan on keeping it anyway as TopTV is not a replacement for me but rather a supplement.
I was wondering if it would be possible to use the smartcard in a PVR capable DreamBox such as DreamBox 600S or maybe even the 800HD (obviously one wont have HD functionality but that wont really matter)
Can anyone confirm that the smartcard works on a dreambox? I know they do the marriage thing because I tried my TopTV smartcard in another TopTV decoder and it gave an error to that effect but I think its only the Zeta+ cards which multichoice uses which wont work because the marriage is both ways card-decoder and decoder to card.
Can anyone confirm any of this?
I'm sure that Sirius4 can be added to the DreamBox - just a case of figuring out where and how... perhaps search their forums or google a little on changing sat info on a dreambox.

Box is a week old and still no call back...btw do they reply to cell numbers???
N*S does run in a Dreambox but beware that the smartcard seems to be 3V as apposed to the slot in a Dreambox being 5V - this needs to be confirmed.
I have a DM8000 plus Smargo USB reader that runs at 3V so ffs get me signed up already.
btw - my card in the TopTV box says "This is not a viewing card" what the hell?
Where do you take warranty claims to swop box?

After calling for activation everything is working fine.
If you purchased from game remember they have a 7 day return window in which you can return it for a refund which you can either cash or buy a new one

How long did it take to activate?I called them and they said its activated but it still says this card is not authorised
When I called they said activation would be within a few minutes and it was active within 5 minutes or so.

How does one PICK UP THE SIGNAL
I'm using SATFINDER and setting up DSTV to pick up the signal is easy. I battled a few hours yesterday and was unable to pick up any signal - signal level stayed at zero..
How are you guys picking up the signal and related?
What are you using - I have been hearing much about the Rover but that costs R6000

The dish angle should be at around 50degrees, lnb at about the 7PM position.I also checked the f connectors to make sure they ok (lengthened the center wire) and changed the decoder to Sirius 4 G8 and I got signal with in a few minutes.Dont know which of those sorted it but hey it worked.
I saw that TopTV is listed under Sirius4 G8, but I got mine using the default setting as it came out of the box which was set to Sirius4 G2.
I'm not sure if that will be relevant to activation or not but just something to keep in mind.
I dont think the satfinder used for IS7/10 will work on Sirius4 - can anyone confirm this?

I used mine.I get signal on G2, G4 & G8.I havent tested the others but I also put it onto G2 once it was done updating.

I did not have any trouble finding the sat
For durban you need to point the dish in a heading of around 340 magnetic (use a compass) and the elevation should be about 45 degrees.
Do you have line of sight in that direction and what kind of dish / lnb are you using ? The LNB has LO Frequency printed on it... should be 10.6 or 10.7 and you need to adjust software accordingly. The LNB also needs to be twisted so that it points to around 7PM when looking at it from the front into the dish itself.

That looks quite cool - I've never used anything like that to find DSTV before so I did Sirius4 manually also.
Can it detect other sat's also?

I am considering using my existing DSTV dish for TopTV - No I have a couple of questions for you guys:
- Can I use my Quad LNB for TopTV?
- Which of the 4 wires do I use?

The quad should work fine and you should be able to use either of the four providing they are all switchable between vertical and horizontal - This will depend on the type of LNB. Some of the older quad LNB's are fixed two vertical and two horizontal. I dont think it will hurt to just try one and see what happens.
Remember the LNB needs to be adjusted tilt to about 7oclock - for DSTV it would have been around 5oclock.
Also, you might have to change the LO Freq of the dish when configuring the initial settings after switching the decoder on for the first time from 10600 to 10700 - The DSTV LNB's are 10700 and the toptv decoder defaults to 10600.
