Hi all
I am pretty sure that my ISP is throttling my torrent downloads even though they say that they aren't.
Instead of fighting with them, I've been thinking about an alternative to torrents.
I haven't tried nor do I know much about any alternatives..

Any ideas?
What has worked for you guys?

Thanks

Who is your ISP?

What torrent software?

What are you downloading .................. no ignore that.

p2p will always be de-prioritized for other traffic on the network simply because of the amount of bandwidth needed to sustain it, so your ISP is lying

Well you made one major mistake going with Amobia they are the Openweb of WISPS and you should definitively consider going to any other WISP http://www.wapa.org.za/coverage/request/.

I was once where you were and turning on encryption in Utorrent helped a little bit but the encryption isn't to good. I never tried a VPN but a VPN should hide what you are downloading by encrypting it so you should get max speed.

Although from Amobia don't expect anything more then 200kb/s on their 4mb/s option, 360p on Youtube and torrents crawl at 25kb/s. They have 4 people working in the call center you will get to know them by name, 2 bantam bakies that service the whole of JHB 2-7 days downtime a month at the tower.

Don't really have a choice where I live.
Funny thing is that it was fine all along, maxing out my line constantly but for the past week, it's been terrible.

I use Put.io - you can stream directly from there and full speed download.

but it costs $10 a month

There is a channel for in on Plex and on Roku

is it free? and what software do you load on it?

a better alternatives is maybe this:
https://torrentfreak.com/torrent-from-the-cloud-with-seedr-160117/

but I see the site is down, not sure if anybody knows the proxy for them.

DigitalOcean i paid $5 for 3 months, pay first month wth credit card and got $10 voucher in return, I went with the $5p/m option so spread out over 3 months, never had issues.
Run a script that installs ruTorrent web interface.

Dont download as much now so gave up on them and use the free 1gb/2gb seedbox's or stream. https://www.seedr.cc/
