"Torrent" Service

You guys are making me so excited to join up with iBurst! Can't wait to get on this hub.

I'd offer to connect and just "seed" files, but I'm on sentech and I doubt anyone would bother at 2kb/s.

Good to know...just btw, there are other hubs beside the iburst hub...

Well I think hes refering to a certain advantage of being on the Iburst hub...

And thanks for toning down my username, very PC. And i wouldnt mind a nice new Linux ISO to try out if the downloading is free, thanks. An episode is 170MB if you change your mind.

Haha, yes. Well I mean I am assuming of course that this hub is dedicated to trading solely Linux ISOs and other open sores software.

Ek haat vensters ook ;) I love me some OS X though.

Is it possible at all for me to view what is on this hub even tho I am on Sencrap till the end of the month?

Jip,go right ahead! You dont need Iburst to connect to the hub!
So you're going over to Iburst @ the end of the month then?

the advantage of being 'uncapped' after your initial 1/3/9GB?

Sorry about that,i just could not resist it! Am i forgiven?
I like my Windows and I like my Linux.

No probs! As soon as i'm on that new server(*fishing for <CENSOR> in pocket*) I’ll open the floodgates to any new DECENT Linux distros. The download for you will be free*.

*But other costs may apply: Is putting that distro onto a DVD for me too expensive maybe?

Just for your info, some hosts that like(TF works)/dont like TF(TF does not work):

TorrentFlux Friendly :D hosts:
?

TorrentFlux Neutral  hosts:
www.servage.net

TorrentFlux Enemy :( hosts:
www.cirtexhosting.com

Anyone using TF and getting good results with a certain host? Care to post the link please?

ld13, did you give servage.net a try yet ?

I mailed [email protected] about a week ago, asking for some tech details, but did not recieve any response ;-(

yes i(we) did...it worked, You just need to turn phpSafemode OFF,and wait 24h for the domain to register. But is seemed as if they could stop TF from running as the torrents would stop after some time. They received a 'Neutral' rating from me...check my previous post!

Try out a 1month acc....shout if you need help....then if you see it does not work, just use your 5/30??? day money back guarantee,(we) did.

do i understand correctly:
1) you get yourself a server somewhere (cheap and with lots of
bandwidth..)
2) you run torrent flux(TF) on this remote server
3) you download the completed torrents via iburst

advantages:
4) runs independent of iburst
5) can up as much or little as you want
6) much higher bandwidth on server
7) ????

disadvantages:
8) downloading finished torrents counts against cap
9) download speed once capped is standard 64kb/s
10???

is that about right?
what have your experiences been so far?

Sorry to bring this up, but im interested in getting this set up for me.

Although i can add a 10) it's expensive.

me and my friend is looking at sharing such an account, but he is of the opinion that there is no host cheap enough for the required bandwidth and storage. He states he can get the one we need, but that costs R4300 a year. I mean, even halved, that's quite expensive considering you still have to download the finished files.

which brings me to ask...can i add a possible 7) you can download from any connection? meaning i want to download the files at work?

so, can anyone that uses this tell me who and how much $ and how much bandwidth and storage they get for it? sounds gr8 to have this set up, but not looking pocket-friendly

Just look around, you should get away with ~R100 or less. Unless you want a lot of space. Depends on how much space you need. I think that it should work on most hosts - just check the requirements on the torrentflux page. It's a pretty standard apache setup.

ah,I also thought so. Dedicated hosting is almost guaranteed to work, but normal shared hosting is not 100% guaranteed. The hosts could block you with firewalls or could limit certain processes to run. That’s why you need to test it and why I’m trying to keep a list here of successful hosts (TF Friendly hosts).

If anyone is trying a host out…care to post your results here?

Firstly, don’t pay for a whole year! Just in case...
R4300 is expensive, could you find out what dedicated server host that is?

And by the way….you need that much storage and transfer. If you manage the storage well, you could get away with under R50-R100 per month!

But dedicated Linux hosting is a more viable option….just not a local one remember!!

I just got ADSL it is a 30GB local account. Does anyone know of a free local torrent that you dont need a invite unless there is a easy way to get a invite.

I don't think that exists, but seeing as it is 30gigs local I'm assuming its an IS account, so you can use the IS local news server for all your downloading needs.

You can check the ADSL section for info on how to do that.

Or just use the local DC++ hub to burn your local gigs.
