I have 3 LTE sims with different providers. Vodacom, Telkom and MTN and I'm getting very slow download speeds on torrents with all of them. Even with torrents with over 10k seeds. Barely ever goes above 50KB/s.

Is there throttling going on or is there some problem right now with international speeds?

I'm using qBittorrent and havent had problems with it before.

P2P is usually the first thing that is throttled by all network providers and/or ISPs.

Did a few speedtests. Seems like it's just my speeds. They keep getting worse as the months go by.

Getting these:

Vodacom: 20Mb/s download, 20Mb/s upload
Telkom: 8Mb/s download, 1Mb/s upload
MTN (uncapped): 4Mb/s download, 0.5Mb/s upload

Used to get 50Mb/s on Vodacom last year. MTN was 20Mb/s last month.

You got a decent router? How is signal and ping?

Ping is low. Signal 3 or 4 bars. Have two routers. B612 for MTN and B315 for Telkom and Vodacom.

Vodacom might be throttling. Even though the speedtest is much better, the torrent downloads slower on Vodacom than Telkom. It's not maxing out my connection as I can still do other stuff online without issues when using Vodacom. Can't do that with the others.

Encrypted torrents are damn hard if not impossible to identify never mind throttle. Easy way to do it is to limit session connections.

I'm always part of the swarm

@Forum Reader The networks don't throttle or shape them usually because capped LTE is has limits. Rain 4G does but Rain 5G premium doesn't. Then obviously ADSL. Fibre providers also don't shape/throttle.

Get a better router to test also, all these are single band LTE. Something like B618 have carrier CA to combine speeds of 2 bands or more

Are your ports open? Last I remember you had to apply for it on Vodacom, Telkom LTE doesn't have that issue.
If the torrent is really popular maybe try βTorrent: Browser WebTorrent Client

My speed is fine for Teams, VPN etc as well as for my wife...but downloading now I am only getting 190kbps.

Important question... Are you limiting your upload speed of said torrents? If so, this could be your issue. Limited upload speeds mean you'll be deprioritised for downloads.

This was a mistake I made back in the day when I only had 20GBs a month and had to be cognisant of my data usage.
