ok, so my guild has cleared the 10man hc of this, got 25man normal on farm and we have now started doing this bloody awful raid. and its horrible. apart from being a nasty boring raid, blizz have actually made something pretty difficult for a change (other than rep grinding) ^^

so, whats the crack? how does one get the tanks to survive thru the transition from Gormok to the jormungar? we can get thru gormok with no-one dying finally, but somehow something happens and one of the tanks always dies. we have a fairly balanced raid makeup, warrior pally and dk tank. tree, shammy, holy priest n some others (cant remember now) for healering.

any suggestions? :erm:

hehe, let me just say wd so far and gl for what lies ahead, specially anub :0

Regarding a tank dieing, well I guess its cause of the Impale that deals 150% weapon damage and puts a 5k bleed on the target that ticks every 2 seconds for 45 seconds. More than 2 stacks = ouch. Use 3 tanks and taunt every 29 sec

*edit* try http://www.tankspot.com/forums/f206/ maybe

it's called cooldowns.

Back when raiding was challenging you used to use them to counter bosses abilities, not just willy nilly like it is now.

Yes pritty much you need to rotate cooldowns. Shieldwall, Laststand, trinkets, Pain supression, Hand of sacrifice etc. And having 3 tanks is a lot less unforgiving :)

Good luck

lol these days I can't even get people to not stand in the fire in normal, we won't be going any where near TOTGC 25.

But yes tank spot has about 50 different ways to get past Gormok, also make sure your tanks are stacked to the eyeballs with stamina you can never have enough health.

Aaah Vaelastraz The Corrupt, now thats the way dungeons should be, pushing players to the absolute limit and beyond. Its gonna be amusing to see guilds disbanding when they discover Icecrown Citadel is not tank n spank :)

Use 3 tanks and rotate every 2 impale stacks. that way, when it's tank no.1 turn to taunt again, his stacks will *just* have fallen off. Have ALL DPS focus on the ranged cobalds. What I mean here, is that melee uses instant attacks so snobolds mean buggerall to them, but I healer or ranged DPS suffers badly, so nuke it down fast. The person with the snobold should really move right on top of the melee DPS so you can use some AOE abilities and not sacrifice boss DPS. Use appropriate cooldowns on every 2nd stack of impale to minimize the chance of a combo and when you have almost killed him, Use a BOP on one of your tanks so that healers won't have to spam him so much as he picks up Dreadscale.

Acidmaw is another story though and range needs to really spread themselves out enough after the transition to phase 2 because having more than 1 person hit by acid is almost certain death. Have your Tanks tank them at right angles to each other so that any person affected by poison should be able to reach the tank who is almost certainly affected with fire without running through a worm. Then it's a simple DPS race.

P3 is almost a joke if you get the basics right. Remember you don't get the speed boost when he slams the entire raid against the wall, and that a hunters Tranq shot will not remove the 10 second minor enrage so be careful. To maximise melee DPS, have them stand at his max hitbox range and he often turns around and bats them away. having them at max range should negate this. otherwise it's a pretty standard fight with DPS always remembering to spread out so his Arctic breath doesn't affect more people than it has to.

Also note that tanking him against a wall is preferable since melee will battle to judge his hitbox if the tank is constantly getting bashed away.

What S7wede said is how you do it :)

Also, don't use a Warrior tank...sadly, they die easier for some reason. Paladin or Druid tanks are best for the first encounter.

My guild has got 3/5 ToGC 25man now :) Many many wipes, but we're getting there :D

Lol my guild just managed to Tribute to Skill last night and TBH the damn northrend beasts are still the hardest of the lot. I'm really aching to go for A Tribute to Insanity as we were only off by 6 attempts. : P

it was out dk tank that kept pegging, not the warrior tank. he had about 47k hp buffed if i recall correctly, dont quote me though. it was just frustrating knowing the ppl I raid are smart cookies, mostly dedicated raiders, and we just wiped out for no apparent reason. I know the raid I run with wouldnt have any major issues except for learning the timing on bossfights later on, so that isnt a worry there. got levitate on the healers, the works.

I suppose it would be better if it was such a minging location for the fight. (I dont like Toc at all, its UGLY, its just the gear, and for guild progression)

on an aside, the snobold achievement, is it as simple as leaving them up in toc25 normal, and killing off the worms and icehowl? obviously keeping the affected ppl alive throughout

IMHO and our guild leaders, the only time you go for the snobold achievement is when they land exclusively on the melee. Not the tanks, ranged DPS or healers. you can't afford it. and the chances of that happening is so minute, you can't really plan for it.

BE MEN, EAT 3 STACKS, USE 2 TANKS.

Also enjoy your RNG when you take a 20k tick followed by a 40k hit in 0.1sec thanks to Gormakk's hugely RNG bull**** swing timer.

Seriously tho if you have a paladin tank eating 3 stacks is viable seeing as you can bubble them off.

My guild has used warrior, paladin, druid and dk tank without any problems. We use 2 tanks.

Keep at it. It will become easymode soon enough. Then its the damn pvp fight. lol. That will drive you nuts until your guild masters it. Far worse than Gormok imo.

There is also a debuff on the boss, if it starts getting to 4 stacks boss starts hitting tanks really hard.

Nice trick in P1 is to put levitate on range and healers, it should eat the flames :P

the buff he gets is based on the number of kobolds alive at any time isn't it? Should be zerging those things down ASAP.

yes u need to nuke them or the tanks get nukes :)

just use pallys, they Op at everything atm.

best tanks because of agrent defender

best healer because of beacon of light

best dps because they can faceroll the damage meters

Ardent Defender is just a c/d you don't have to use. So ye you can take a killing blow once every 2 minutes. Not a great ability IMO but whatever floats your boat.

Best healer because of beacon of light? You've never seen a resto druid roll 15 Rejuvs on a raid and simultaneously keep 3 blooms rolling on a tank have you? Ye no paladin will ever equal that in terms of pure healing and Disc priests far exceed them in single target mitigation and tank survivability.

Rets aren't terrible but they're not nearly as good as other melee classes.

Also I seriously hope you're trolling.

You've never seen a disc priest heal a tank have you? They don't generate huge numbers but they mitigate such huge amounts of damage it's silly. Lets not forget they have one of the best "oh ****" buttons in game for tanks.
