Tottenham sack Villas-Boas

From what I can gather, Technical Director Franco Baldini was responsible for most of the new players that came in.
He should get the sack as well.

Then again looking at their league position then are only 8 points behind Arsenal and they are 2 points ahead of Man United.

That's what I don't understand.
He is rebuilding a team, all that new players need time to click. He is not that far off either.

He has had some shocking results, but I think should have been given some time to let his team gel.
What was their target? Win the league? 4th spot?

Chopping and changing managers at the turn of every bad run of results will not realise their goals much quicker.

Getting that lucrative fourth spot for UEFA Champions League football is so important.
I guess Daniel Levy felt that AVB wouldn't be able to achieve that.
Fifth manager sacked and we are not even halfway through the season.

Bale saved them so many points last season, their fans are actually happy to see the back of him.

As a Gooner, I'm sad to see him go. They might go on and get a proper manager now. :(

Yeah, they might actually get someone competent and Soldado might actually start scoring which is bad news.

Harsh they are still in the fight for 4th position but I think the failure to qualify last season played a significant part in his sacking

It's indicative of today's football pressures. A few bad results and you are out.

I worse quote disappointed when I read this. AVB has been really lucky. He was forced out of Chelsea by players who cared more about ego than anything else. He did a good job at Tottenham, abd definitely did not buy those players himself. While I agree he made some questionable decisions with tactics, he players I believe are more to blame. Sandro, Paulinho, Townsend, Walker, Dembele are all hot and cold players. One day they look immense, and the next they disappoint.

In a way Im happy, cause I think Spurs can kiss Top 4 goodbye. AVB however deserved better treatment.

On the flip side- he has been sacked by two clubs already. While the Chelsea sacking I write off to RA's impatience, with this one, it just says to me that he also has a part to blame. Never seen Levy sack a manager without cause, and I don't believe that the recent results were of sufficient cause to see Villas-Boas given the boot.

I don't rate Levy very highly. I think he is an idiot to be honest. Spurs has had some good players, only for him to mess things up.

I disagree- if you look at how far the club have come since the days of Alan Sugar, you have to hand it to Levy. He has done a fantastic job there in his running of the club.

I just think that we need to also consider how and why Villas-Boas was sacked midway into a season more than once in his very short career. I really don't feel that is was down to results alone.

There was a lot of talk on the Chelsea forums last year, of how Villas-Boas had a very "my way of the highway" attitude towards the board and coaching staff. I just feel that he contributes to his own downfall a bit more than people are willing to accept.

Fair enough. You may be right.

Why I don't credit Levy much is that he wasn't the one signing the players that have been good for them. Bale, Modric, Berbatov, Im sure was brought in by managers. Those players thrived and was sold by Levi. So he looks good.
