Tower numbering concerns

Hello All,

I've had 128K MyWireless for a few days now and I have been pulling my hair out - I hope ProAsm is reading this - I have a tower overlap problem in that the Randburg tower and the Sentech tower(Radiokop) both seem to provide me with signal - and both are 82 - or have I lost my mind .....

If 2 towers share the same signalling number but are in different locations I'm going to run into trouble - not so ?

No matter what unorthodox position I stand in (with my modem) 82 will not connect - I get good signal strength (up to 38) and RSCP etc all seem v.good - but I still end up with "Remote host did not respond". 24 pointless calls to Sentech Helpdesk later I'm pleading for help here ;-)

I have LOS to Mintek(12) but I'm getting flooded with signal from Sentech/Randburg(82). I've tried the patch, cantella, self-made yagi but still barely manage to get the modem to switch to 12.

I'm based in RandparkRidge.

Any ideas,comments, suggestions would be welcome.

Yes we are currently tweaking the grid and soon your problem should go away.
Just let the holidays go past []
The Tower numbering is meaningless and has no bearing on the connection.
If you are inbetween 2 Towers you will get a different frequency from each and that is what counts.
If you're battling to connect, the chances are you are more than 5 ks from either of the Base Station 82 Towers.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I'm about 2.1km LOS from Radiokop but still have no joy to tower 82. I have a pending support ticket (Ref:2959) concerning it.

Is the fiddling happening on 12 -AFAYK ?

Can you give me a Long/Lat for 82(randburg) and 12 (Mintek) by any chance ?

also, check if you get disconnected by the network itself or disconnedt by the modem, big difference there

Hi There...Me again..

I have the exact same problem and have had this problem for 5 weeks now.

I am very close to the Radiokop tower but the only tower I can see is the Randburg base station 82. I also get 'Remote host did not respond'

could we please have an ETA on when this will be fixed?
