Toyota GT86

Any idea what the difference between the standard and high is? Price isn't too nuts it seems, but I can't really validate it. Cars are just too damn expensive these days.

It is a pretty good price... all things considered.

I think the difference between standard and high is only in equipment, not engine.

It's probably things like satnav, leather seats, metallic paint.

If it's a drivers car like they say it is then I would not be interested in the extras.

If it's like the Gullieta, you'd want the leather sports seats, especially in this thing. Satnav and the like I would skip as well though.

Balls. The wife says she likes it and I'm allowed to get it. Will give it a year or two to mature a bit and probably pick one up then :(

I have the spec sheet @ home. Only back tomorrow evening though. IIRC the auto has paddle shift. Prices are better than expected, think I might go test drive the auto, hopefully Toyotas service is a bit better this time round.
 
If those are the prices then they arent bad considering in the UK it is the same price as an Audi TT.

I would go for the auto with paddle shift too... personal preference.

Also, from the Australian spec I posted before, the auto actually has better fuel consumption. I don't see a 0-100km/h time, but I would be interested to see how they differ.

The High gets you:
- SMART entry
- HID headlights + washers
- 17 inch rims with 16inch vented disks front and 15inch vented rear with 215/45 tires
- dual zone climate control
- cruiser control
- Heated and Leather seats
- some aluminuim plates here and there.

The Toyota 86, which was co-developed with Subaru's BRZ, is a compact two-door sportscar that features a four-cylinder, 2,0-litre horizontally-opposed (boxer) engine that develops 147 kW at 7 000 r/min and 205 N.m at 6 600. The top speed of this lightweight (around 1 200 kg), rear-wheel drive coupe is said to be just over 220 km/h and the benchmark 0-100 km/h sprint should be completed in around 7,2 seconds.
The 86 is 4 240 mm long, 1 285 mm high and 2 570 mm wide. It features a 53:47 front to rear weight distribution and a low (475 mm) centre of gravity.
The 86 is a vital new product for Toyota, as the Japanese giant attempts to inject some fun into its line-up. Stay tuned for more updates as they happen.

The petrol would cost more than you earn :p

Anyway the problem with second hand performance cars is that you don't know how it's been driven before, and since they're usually out of their maintenance plans, you'll have to fork out a lot for repairs. There's a reason why they're cheap.
