Would really appreciate some help here guys.

Recently signed up for FTTH through Afrihost using my own TP Link VR600 Archer Router. Arrive at the landing batch to authenticate and I'm connected. However, I'm unable to login to the router to change SSIDs, passwords, etc.

The router has been reset to factory settings and the DNS flushed. IP Settings are all set to obtain automatically.

In addition, if I try to connect any other device to the router using the default passwords, I'm required to activate the line again with an OTP, at which point the previous device has it's access revoked. Cell phone connects to Wifi but the TP Link cannot detect the router when connected to the Wifi.

Support has thus far, other than saying that they don't know what the issue is, recommend to purchase one of their fibre modems instead.

Thanks for any feedback and suggestions.

Regards.

Hi.

Please send me a PM with your email address; it sounds like the line has not been mapped correctly.

Hi @Afrigirl , what was the solution to this? I have the exact same router and having the exact same issue

Usually it means that the router is sending the Mac address of your device to the mapping server. This is caused by either the LAN cable from the ONT is not in the WAN port or the router is misconfigured.

Not being able to connect to the routers dashboard makes me think that the router is sending the WAN IP to the device connected and not via the built in DHCP server.

Check your IP address on your device and the IP range for the router (ie 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1. 1 on TP Link routers). If you are not in the routers range then you have your answer.

On a computer press the Windows key + R
Enter CMD and press enter
At the prompt type "ipconfig /all" and hit enter.

Check your default gateway. If the router is working as it should it would have the routers IP. If not, then you need to check why the router is not routing.

In the settings make sure it's in router mode and not AP mode.

Hope this helps.
