Alternatively, you can find a phone line that does not broadcast it's number, call those numbers and find out who it is. Or even from some payphone.

You can use your mobile, just dial #31# and then the number i.e. #31#084xxxxxxx

Your number will not show on the other side, will come up as unknown.
