Good evening guys I have a situation here I have tracker alert in my car, I have a unit attached to my key mobiliser. If my car move without that unit tracker will call me to fine out if me and my car we are safe. Even if I push my car without that unit tracker will call me. To my surprise today I used the spare key to test if the unit is still working drove to my friend's place 4 kilometres, tracker did not call and I came back home another 4 kilometres no call from tracker. Does anyone know maybe how does tracker alert work it pick up after how many kilometres that the car is moving without the unit.

Around January they called me around 4:00 am I did not answer the call and my car did not move it was were I left it. After today I feel like my car is not safe. I just called tracker call centre the are closed.

I'm pretty sure the Tracker emergency call centre won't be closed. It's not an emergency though, so just wait until tomorrow.

Don't use Tracker Alert, I have Skytrax fitted instead. It's definitely worth the extra money: you can locate your car anytime you want and see its location on a map. SMS, cellphone app or website ... your choice. If you're the panicky type then it's a good service to go for because you have full control at all times.
 
If I'm not mistaken the tracker skytrax is R199 and alert is R179

Yup. So isn't peace of mind and the ability to locate your own car anytime you want (rather than only in emergencies or in special 'testing areas') worth R20/month? For me it's a no-brainer.
 
Definitely tomorrow if they allow me I will upgrade but today's test does not seat well with me.
 
I agree how can they call me when my car is not moving and when my car is moving they don't call.

What you can do is ask them to send a technician to investigate it. I had to do that once when my tracking unit stopped working, and they replaced it at no cost.
 
Foxhound 5366 have you also used tracker alert did you have the same problem.
 
Tracker is useless. There is one in the car I bought and I have emailed them 10 days ago to get the location of it so I can have it removed. No answer.

Once I have a company fitted unit installed I'll ask our installer to see if he can find the tracker and chuck it out.
 
One day I was looking for a driver and he was almost a kilometre away from where tracker's red dot showed him as being. In fact I thought he stole the vehicle, removed and dumped the unit somewhere. Luckily I found him by driving down the same road.
 
I thought I should update you guys so I called tracker today explained to the lady what happened yesterday, she said the are steps I should follow when testing the key knob. So she e mailed me those steps and advised me to change the battery. I did followed those steps and tested the unit after 10 minutes driving with the spare key tracker called me. I feel 10 minutes is long as I was driving slow around the block, a thief would drive fast within 10 minutes he/she will be far.

But I still feel I should upgrade to tracker skystrax to test the key knob it's a mission and after yesterday I feel unsafe ,because sometimes it slip my mind to change the battery. I just wonder if It didn't cross my mind yesterday to test knob I would have stayed thinking my car is safe.

There is no keyfob with Skytrax ;)

Getting a Skytrax is about giving YOU the ability to see where your car is at any time, and then also giving Tracker's recovery teams more accurate GPS info to find your car if needed (rather than just radio signal triangulation).

You do get a panic button with Tracker Skytrax, so you can always try pushing that and seeing if somebody phones you back a bit faster than just a standard alert.
