Tracking Parcels

Mine has been stuck at "JHB Incomming international" since the 28/08

Mine's finally here at Cape Mail Hub. Collecting on Monday.

I noticed with my gb orders. They came much quicker when I posted to my box address as opposed to my physical address.

Guys a little help please, this is my first time importing from these sources. I am based in Johannesburg, and i put in my physical address (Office address) as destination. What does the highlighted (in the snapshot) mean for me (Jhb Int Mail Center -from customs) ? And also will they come deliver at the physical address or i should expect to collect from somewhere or something  ?

If it's the same story as Capemail they want to know the value so they can slap some VAT on you. You have to call them.

Likely that you will need to collect from your nearest post office.

Yes, if you don't call they'll sit on it for a week, then eventually send you a letter to say "we have a parcel for you etc." So you wanna speed up that process.

Thanks, phoned them now. Both packages are stuck at Capemail because there is no value / invoice on the package. In the past they wanted a faxed copy of the invoice, this lady was happy to just take the values I gave her over the phone  (good thing I was sitting down!)

Last week she said I could email the invoice through, then she could send to my local Post Office, but apparently mail is down this week, so I'll just take the invoice there on Monday. (Of course they don't open over weekends, sigh).

What number do you guys phone to get hold of them?

Finally got my Android media player from Gearbest. Picked it up from Capemail yesterday.
Got another tip for you guys - if you phone in, ask for a shelf number. When I arrived yesterday their system was down, so they couldn't find my parcel. Eventually somebody managed to do some magic to locate it, but I almost had to leave empty handed.

Notification that they have it? They won't send it on to your local post office without invoice info so they know how much to charge you. So either go out there and pay, or call them and arrange to email them the details so they can tell your local P.O. how much to charge you.

Depends in how much of a hurry you are.

For me, I just wait, then one of the following happen:
a) 2 weeks go by at Cape Mail Hub, then they end it on to the local P.O. and I either get it with R0 customs/handling fee or sometimes there is a fee, mostly not
b) 2 weeks go by and I get a notification that I need to pick it up at Cape Mail Hub

I prefer that a happens, but 1 out of 10 times it is b, then I dread going through to Cape Mail hub.

If the package is sent without tracking, chances of paying R0 import fee on small items go up by like 95%.

After the long wait for the package just to get to Capemail... You must have the patience of a monk.

Haha not really. I just know that if I want something quick, dont use SAPO, then you courier it. If it is something small and cheap, I buy it knowing full well I will only have it in 3-4 month's time.

its at the local post office by the looks of it on the tracking page.

At Office - First Notification to recipient

location is not Cape Mail anymore

Then surely it's ready for collection?

im assuming so but i haven't got the slip yet and phoning them hasn't been successful. i don't want to rock up and then they ask me for a slip. will be first time there so don't know the vibe yet.
