Trade-in value on cheaper car?

Any ideas what VW would give as a trade-in on my 2014 Golf 7 Comfortline. It's in excellent condition with 42000k on the clock and full service history. 4 new tyres fitted September 2018.

I'm a terrible driver and it's too big for me so I'm thinking of getting a new Up but don't want to get into debt.

Tks guys.
 
Put the old tyres back on and sell the new slightly used ones on tandvleisboom. New tyres don't do squat for trade-in.

Edit: Unless you're one of the normal people that let the the tyre shop you used keep your old ones.

Try webuycars they will give estimated on the spot.

Pretty much guaranteed since OP is not a car guy going by the fact he wants to swop a G7 for an Up.

She has no use for the tyres, so this would be a pointless exercise.

Yep :)

Had enough of putting foot and just want to park easily at shopping centres/at work/in the garage at home. Will probably be frustrating going uphill and driving behind trucks etc but I'll test drive before buying.

Service coming up end Feb and I plan to ask them then. Wanted to know what to expect and also not be intimidated or surprised at the dealership.

If you can find someone to give you the current trade/retail values that will help with not being surprised by the dealership but it will only be a guide. The dealership will also use it as a guide and then adjust based on vehicle condition, outstanding debt, the car you are looking at, the new deal, etc.

Didn't know that trade-in values vary but it makes sense.

What puts me off is as soon as you mention the possibility of a new car they all cluster around asking for contact details and then hound you daily about whether you've made a decision or not.

Also it will be a balancing act because most of them give R10k off the purchase price which I'd lose on a trade-in. Think I'll ask a colleague to visit webuycars.

If so, retail is: R 210 100.

I can't view trade or Market. Only retail.

Meh it's much of a muchness and you acclimatize to the car quickly.

I went from a GTI to a Kia Picanto and the only time I really take notice is when you need to join a lane I can't just use my big toe and go like I did before and need to plan accordingly.

You may however want to take a look at the Polo as well.

The Up, sadly much like the Picanto is missing the Turbo motor in the line up locally which would have made it ideal.

Probably something to do with loadshedding. Our lectric is off until 9:30 or thereabouts so I'll check the site tomorrow morning.

Polo's quite expensive these days but I'm open to suggestions so will price them. Do you think bottom of the range Polo is preferable to TOR Up?

It's about R40k price difference.

Yes 1.4 tsi. Tks Pitbull at least I know the ballpark. They'd likely want a R30k/R40k profit so R170k ish if I'm lucky.

Cheapest Polo is R245k :( so unless you guys think the Up is as bad as the Vivo.....

The Up is quite lacking in features even at the top end.

So you might find a Polo or Vivo demo being better value overall for features and a bit more power.
 
And there is about 20cm difference in length between the Polo and the Golf so if a Golf is too big then the Polo won't be any different.

If parking is the problem, I guess it's too wide.
