Traffic fine - Windshield

What are you talking about. It seems you can insure a wreck, wait for an installment to go off, and claim you had an accident. :wtf: I've NEVER had anyone EVER inspect my car upon insuring it.
Then you better make sure you indeed do have insurance!

All my cars were inspected. Up until that point I was only covered for third party, fire and theft

I am indeed insured ;) I have claimed for damage and for write-off's before. Should I desire to change insurers, I let my broker know, and it's done. Simple as that. I have never once had my car inspected by anyone.

I remember my first car (a second hand uno) was inspected... that was 15 years ago. Nothing like that since. Still with the same broker, 3 different cars since then, no inspections.

I know you are required to insure a car when you purchase one, so more than likely they do an inspection then, or they just take the word of the salesman. But when I switched insurers, nobody ever bothered with an inspection.

We are on the third insurer for the wife and we had to have the car inspected each time. Thank goodness we did as when we claimed for a cracked windscreen with our previous insurer (First For Women), they required a copy of the original inspection certificate.

Check with your broker and email your insurance company.

I can do that, but the thing is, I have claimed before with no hassles, one claim for auto glass and the other one for a rear bumper and scratches on the side. AFAIK this car was never inspected by my current insurer. I will take this up with them, however, because this means I can cancel insurance, save R700 per month, crash the car, insure it telephonically via my broker, and claim a while later. Not that I would ever do something stupid like that! :D

I woudln't claim for such a small thing. Can't you go to PG glass and have it patched up?

so,back to topic....what are my chances of getting away with it?
i am not really looking to fix it,unless i have it.

The price of windscreens from the vehicle agencies is actually frightening. A 2008 Sportage's windscreen is also in the same region.
Yeah I can relate. They are coining it.

I had to have the side, rear, left window of a Quantum replaced and Toyota quoted me 2k for it. I thought fsck that and bought a fong kong window for R600.

I think a new Corsa is about R5,000.00 :/

btw - also never had insurance inspect my car ...
