Which recreational sport has the most toxic culture, and why is it trail running???
 
Cycling

Trail running is awesome and knocks tar runs into a cocked hat every time.

Trail running is awesome, I do 90% of my triathlon run training on trails. But trail runners seem to be the issue.

The running part is lekker. The egos are however like nothing I have ever seen - and I used to play elite level teamsports….

Once you get out under the weight of the massive chip on your shoulder, you might be able to see that that is pretty much the objective of essentially every teamsport, and many many individual sports as well, whether balls are involved or not.

Dude, he's got a hectic release schedule with these threads so sometimes a few fall through the gaps in quality. I've heard from people in the know that the next thread is going to be about people / "losers" who wear clip on ties. And let me tell you...if the little bit I saw is anything to go by - it's going to be an absolute banger. Watch this space.

See many chess fans screaming blue murder at the contenders?

How many times have you seen a chess spectator claim "WE WON!!"?

Chess makes no false claims that it "uplifts communities".

Sportsball is essentially a marketing platform aimed at a largely irrational and delusional client base.

There is nothing to be learned from sportsball. It adds nothing of value to the species. It is shallow entertainment. Nothing more.
 
Toxicity is all about the people there and the leadership of the group. I have seen toxic and non-toxic across many activities. Its a human thing.
