Residential Customer A: Telkom Line with ADSL and TelkomInternet
Residential Customer B: Telkom Line with ADSL and TelkomInternet (24 month contract)
Here's the story: Customer B is moving out into a new house and Customer A is moving into Customer B's old house. There is no need for the line to remain installed and active at Customer A's old house so it could be cancelled. Both customers would like to retain ADSL service with Customer B also wanting to retain their 24 month contract along with email address and modem.
I've called Telkom a number of times had gotten a different story each time. The way I understand is there are two options: either cancel one service and transfer ownership of the other OR transfer both services to the two new houses. The later can take 14-21 working days per transfer and require a R600 reconnection fee payable by each customer AND the one line has to be transferred before the other. The former introduces complexities with the 24 month contract however I'm getting mixed information regarding cancelling (and associated penalties), cancelling and disputing the penalties or simply transferring the contract to the new line.
If anyone has gone through this pain before and has suggestions, they'll be most welcome.
