My Asus Transformer Prime (TF201) is arriving today. My first tablet, I really can't wait! :D

Anyone out there got one of these yet? What do you think?

I've only heard mediocre things about it and more worryingly issues about reception due to the full alluminium back. Hope yours doesn't give you any grief.

There is no 3G modem in it, think you're mixing it up with something else. From all the reviews I've read this tablet is top notch. I know there are some GPS issues and occasional Wifi issues have been reported, but I'm not going to use this for navigation and I'm sure the Wifi will work fine.

Great tablet. Did you get the keyboard dock as well?

Waiting for the Transformer Pad Infinity due for launch in May.

Starting without the keyboard dock for the time being. Just really wanted a tablet and this was the first one that appealed to me. Performance is excellent and I prefer Android over iOS.

Just a few hours to go! :D

Didn't say anything about 3G?

Anyhow, worth checking this out:

Hope your unit doesn't give you any problems.

I was going to get one. The fact that there is no 3G support is a deal breaker for me - and decided against it. I know you can tether you phone, but wasting my phones battery to connect my pad is not viable.

I also heard about the GPS issues because of the aluminium back. Otherwise, nothing wow has been reported on the device

I think it's probably one of the best tablets out there (on paper) it's just a pity about the design flaws.

I have been waiting for the Prime as well, if you think the TF 201 has problems you should play with a Lenovo ThinkPad tablet.

Does anyone know if the networks will be offering the Prime on contract?

I have kept my eye on this bad boy as well, so whichever comes first on contract I will sign up.

Waiting for the Transformer Pad Infinity to come out so that the Prime's price will drop :P

Give us some feedback once you get it, GPS/WIFI issues if any, screen, etc.

Do you know if yours comes with ICS preloaded?

So I've received the device and in comparison to other Android tablets I've used, namely, Galaxy Tab and Motorola Xoom, this thing rocks. The quad core processor gives Android the performance it deserves. I always found the Galaxy and Xoom to be occasionally disappointing in performance compared to the iPad. The Prime is buttery smooth no matter what you are doing.

Mine wasn't preloaded with ICS but as soon as I booted it up it began downloading the firmware update and I was on ICS in no time.

Haven't tested the GPS yet, as I mentioned above I didn't get this as a navigation device :) My Garmin and GSII serve me perfectly well for navigation.

I also haven't had any of the reported Wifi issues. I sit quite far from my router in a location that several devices drop signal, including 3 Wifi cards I bought for my pc before finally running cable. The Transformer Prime and my laptop never drop signal, so I am very happy about that.

Display is incredible, very crisp and the colours are superb. The brightness is truly in its own class...

Love having a tablet, and if anyone has the option to get one of these I highly recommend it over current competitors.

Ah okay. Yeah, that seems to be the cheapest and easiest way to avoid paying VAT / import duties.

Got mine last week, it's awesome.

Nothing wrong with it having no 3G, android phone has a wi-fi hotspot switch for the tablet to connect to whenever I need internet.
Can't all android phones can do this? Saved me from having to buy a 3G to Wi-fi router.

BTW, for hd mkvs movies and such, playing them over wireless from a pc has some random choppy lag for me. (Using MX Player/ES File Explorer). To play these smoothly I have to copy them over to the tablet temporarily..
