slimothy if it is just port prioritisation, and there should be only speed implications, how do you explain the fact that I can leave a P2P application like eMule for one week and it won't download a single byte ... will give me a status Cannot Connect for almost all peers at almost all times? How do you explain ICQ disconnecting after it send a single message instantly. Note that all this stuff worked fine for years and still work when I am using dial-up! So don't come with the sh*t that it is my PC!
Telkom also does port prioritisation on P2P but all I can notice is slow speed during the day, which is very different than 0 speed at all times (while HTTP is cruising at full speed at the same time)!
Also ISP don't block protocols, so obviously there is no option to "unblock" them. This is only WBS specific feature to block protocols.
Also can you explain to me what is the reson behing blocking the subversion protocol? Is it used for illegal traffic? Does it use too much bandwidth? I don't think so! I guess the answer is that you need to pay extra to use it! Does it say in the relevant package description that subversion won't work???? Not of course, it is nice surprise after you spend R2800 for the iBurst modem ...
So slimothhy I am prety sure you have some serious relationship with WBS to defend them so much, so that's cool with me, but I will say what I want to say, you can just skip over my posts!
After WBS changes their web site to reflect the true nature of their products, so the people can get all the truth by reading their web site, then I will stop bithing!
i don't know, maybe because you didn't get the 9GB package emule sucked, or maybe everyone who says they have the 3gb package and use p2p are lying, yes that must be it
i don't get that icq problem so I don't know, fact is all the protocols you mentioned work for me and others, so fact is.. they didn't block those protocols as you stated.
I think you just connected in a crap area with an overloaded basestation and with a bad quality of signal (not signal strength, quality of signal), but you're not going around everythread saying "hey if you connect to x tower especially in x location its better to get ADSL, you are directing it at everyone, I can't argue that you or any other user is wrong if you say you were happy or unhappy with whatever aspect of the iBurst service, but I can say that I personally don't want to read about ADSL in the iBurst section of this forum as much as ADSL users don't want me going on about iBurst in thier section, thats the reason the forum is split up, so we can have information relavent to the various services, but you don't seem to realise this.
I am also in no way affiliated with WBS other than being a paying client who gets what they paid for, i don't go around making assumptions that anyone who critisises the US is in AL Quaeda, so I'd appreciate it if you would show the same courtesy. I know you had iBurst and werent happy, and I'm not saying don't critisise WBS, by all means, go ahead, hopefully it will help them improve BUT this isn't the ADSL forum and you no longer have a grasp on what the situation is seeing as how you don't have the service any longer.
Crit them all you want, but this "GET ADSL" in every thread and talking about things that don't exist (like WBS magically blocking protocols like ICQ and such) has to stop, thats the only thing I'm worried about, I don't care if you do or don't like WBS, and please speak your mind here till your fingers bleed from smacking the keyboard I have no problem with that.
So in summary:
1. Please stop the "HAHAH GET ADSL" posts unless it is relavent to the topic
2. Please stop making things up, like "WBS blocks ICQ and other protocols"
Those are not orders, I have no power here, just friendly requests from someone who likes to use these forums for relavent information, use em, don't use em, whatever
