Hi
Hoping this is the right place to post this.
Have a Redmi 4A with dual Sim, presently using Vodacom prepaid.
Am planning a trip to Madagascar and seems my phone is not currently supported/enabled for use there.
(under Additional settings, Region tab, Madagascar not listed)
My query is: Is there any way I can enable the phone so I can use the second sim slot in Madagascar? Was wondering if this was an issue of different technologies, service provider, software or something else. Have used the phone in Europe but not enabled in Ireland

Perhaps someone has used a phone or modem specifically for data in Madagascar and can tell me what device they used and which network.

Thanks, very useful site and according to them my phone should work which is what I reckoned since Xiaomi phones are sold there. And also then rules out the different technologies question.

However I still have a problem the same one I encountered in Ireland. Madagascar is not listed under region.

Ireland was also not listed and I could not use my phone there either.
So am back to...

Who the hell cares? I always select USA as a country anyway or you can use the UK if you don't like tha Amerian way of english. Unless you plan to live there it shouldn't matter.

Perhaps I have muddied the waters...The only reason I mention the region is I bought a sim in Ireland and according to https://willmyphonework.net/ it ought to have worked there but did not. Ireland is also not available under region tab and I wondered if this was the reason or if there is another reason.
For work purposes I need to have mobile data connectivity while I am there.and cannot risk a repeat of what happened in Ireland as will be in some remote areas without Wi-Fi access.

Those settings only refer to the customisation of things on the phone, like weather and currency and date display. I have no idea why your things did not work in Ireland but perhaps that may be to do with the network provider or something else you were trying to do. Did the prepaid irish sim refuse to even register with the carrier?

The only thing that theoretically shouldn't have worked is LTE for some providers,GSM up to 4G should've been fine as their frequency bands are same as ours upto 4G so that region thing is not an explanation
Madagascar however matches our frequency usage upto and including LTE
