Hello all, I need to study this week for a VOIP practical exam. Anyway I have the following.

Trixbox version 2.2 running in Vmware.

Now my ADSL router is connected to my PC using DHCP.

When I want to access Trixbox using a web browser (FF)

I need to change my network adapters from DHCP to static, as a result I can access my Trixbox but not the internet:confused:

Any ideas?

Have you read "trixbox without tears"?

Let me see if I understand your question. Your ADSL router has a DCP scope from which it allocated IP addresses for your pc, yes?

You now want to change the IP address on your PC to an address that's outside the scope, but still on the same subnet as the ADSL router's IP address, so that the ADSL router would be your default gateway, yes?

If you do this, you are probably also going to have to get DNS server settings from your ISP.

In trixbox, the configuration is simple, switch from user mode to admin mode, click on system, then on network and enter IP address, DNS server addresses and the IP address of your default gateway and you should be cooking.

I knew nothing of Trixbox four days ago as I'd been using Elastix till then (but got fed up with the crashing), but with a little help from a very helpful man on this forum, I not only have one running sweetly, but I also have four sip channels connecting to four different voip providors.

Contact Global Chat. They specialize in trixbox and elastix. They are an International VOIP provider, both in retail and wholesale traffic. They build call centres, internet cafe software as well as call shop software as well as provide the indivdual with lower cost calls both locally and Internationally. ICASA VANS registered and will shortly go live with their own interconnection with Telkom in the 087 market, so watch this space. Visit their website www.globalchat.co.za
