Very mature and cowardly but that is rather typical of the arrogance of those Radio Pretoria listening closet racists.

Now don't be too surprised and cry crocodile tears that this is the straw that breaks the camel's back and insures that Pretoria will now finally be scrapped.

Just deserves.

I dont live in PRETORIA but it sounds like you are atacking every white person in PRETORIA. Anyhow, whats the difference its the same with black people being murderers, rapist, and then the really retarded ones thinking aids will be cured by having sex with a baby.

Its fun generalising a spesific race.

Just knew it was going to happen the moment it was put up. Forcing people did not work in the past, how the hell is it going to work now?

We need to learn from the past. Our current Government is just repeating previous mistakes. When will they learn?

Pity that such barbaric squads of torturers that transformed the country in the crime disaster did not learn anything about respect for others during the past 350 years.

And what respect did whites have for blacks perhaps last couple of hunderd years ???.

If you look at the names of the various towns and places ... it seems that only whites lived in South Africa all the time and the rest of us in black spots and locations and townships.

This is a black country mate and get used to it and the names of places must simply reflect this candid reality.

Exactly how does your remarks above assist in reducing the risk of racial war in South Africa?

Sjoe, T.D, you are painting an awful lot of people with the same brush there...hold on...you don’t happen to have 3 cans of paint along with that brush...like orange, white and blue?? :)

I think you'll find that most the towns and suchlike DID NOT EXIST before they were settled.. Was there a city called Tswane that was renamed Pretoria? No. So why should it be changed? It's simply a waste of money that could be spent on better things, like housing, crime, what have you..

"This is a black country mate and get used to it and the names of places must simply reflect this candid reality."

Ahh the truth comes out, it's not a 'Rainbow Nation' it's a black country according to you... I think that says it all about your views on the matter..

schitz011 : Whilst I think that certainly many names need to change. some of the changes that are happening are unneeded and are just a political ploy.

Of course we are still the "rainbow nation". But you have to temper this with reality and realise that when almost every name reflects a culture that doesn't represent 80% of the populace, things need to change

OMW T.D I think you sealed the deal, you are quite possibly the most racist and hypocritical person on this forum.

If SATAWU can run amok and destroy everything in their way surely there is nothing worng with this groups protest?

when in africa ....

yea dead right, blacks cant be racist it has been scientifical proven, only white ppl can be racist :p ;) :D

skippiing the racial discussion, I dont think it is right for anybody to deface national property like that. Same way I was upset when the lawns around the union building were set on fire during some or other protest recently.

However, as a rainbow-nation democracy, it would seem certain citizens are unhappy with the proposed name change which brought this on eventually.

I think (fear??) this is a spark, a catalyst, to even more tension

Some people will never change and never adapt, and sit there in front of their PC's as they read this thinking:"That's me, and proud of it". There is still a flat earth society and people who like Windows 5.1. What can you do?
People who think:"I miss the good old days when I could wave my flag proudly" and never did.
They will not ever get it.
We really should give up trying to make them. We will just have to wait for them to die. :)
Ironically they are also the old f@rts who hate graffiti.:D

Graffitti is generally a culture in itself. Street Culture. Look up Banksy on the net although his work is more stencil driven and is based in UK.

If certain people can not get to grips with this subculture residing within South Africa then move further north in Africa.

And I love it when people say an act such as this is cowardly... i think it is far from that. It is merely a political statement similiar to those performed back in the day of the old regime.

Sure it is a bit silly getting worked up enough over a cities name being changed to go and paint a new statue, but at the same time **** like this happens all around the world.

Here it just seems more intense because it is a line between racial colours as opposed to politcal parties.

Anyways... interesting post Ant.
