Hi Forum,

I'm looking for people who have engaged in fibre services with any of the below 2 T2 operators:

TT Connect
Blitz Fibre

These providers are mainly present on the east side of Johannesburg.
Please share your experiences with these T2 providers, including the implementation phase as well as live-network stages.

I'd like to see if these guys are up to scratch.

TT Connect - installation took a very very long time. I used Axxess as my ISP and they got things moving. TT Connect need to send out several teams to put everything in place before the service can be up and running. To be fair, I was the first one in my complex to put it in so that's probably why it took almost 3 weeks.

My neighbour just had theirs put in and that took under 2 weeks.

In terms of service... there is downtime. I have put it down to the constant rolling out in the area and the constant reconfigurations. As I type this, TT Connect is down again. Downtime in my experience is roughly once a week for a few hours. TT Connect are the only company who have trenched in my road so I'm pretty much stuck with them for now.

+1 with TT Connect installations issues.

I had to tell the engineers what to do while trying to troubleshoot.

Initially had the attitude towards me like I didn't know what I was talking about but did not know what to say when I was right./rantover

All in all the installation was a massive pain but haven't had any issues since.

TT Connect installation for my residence was very drawn out but this was partly due to my haste and pushing to get everything done. But it took them about a month and a half from floating the fibre into my house to having the line actually live. My neighbor went live on the same day, he was down the following day for 3 weeks and after much fighting had a TT technician come out to discover that the Vuma guys had damaged the fibre. Our was still up and has been relatively issue free compared to my other friends in the Farrarmere area, where they were down and without service 3-4 times a week and often without service over the weekend. And don't expect any service or repairs over the weekends.

Their call center is beyond useless, trying to order pizzas in New York using smoke signals and gang signs would be more efficient than getting any issue or support service from their helpdesk. If they are you only provider, go with Cool Idea's as the ISP and you should be ok with getting updates and feedback on outages and planned maintenance.

Thanks for the feedback guys, any Blitz Fibre customers?
Out of all the complaints and issues i have heard with TTConnect i would go with anyone besides them if i had a choice, luckily i dont need to deal with them at all. Just have a look at the afrihost page even to see how often TTConnect has issues.

I've seen the amount of complaints about TT Connect, seems like it's difficult to find a satisfied customer in this forum. I'm not sure if this is an accurate representation of the overall service quality, but it's definitely not contributing positive feelings towards us signing with them.

TT Connect seems to be on par with Vodacom Fibre then... not great.

Get on the Farrarmere whatsapp group. There's maybe one out of 200+ people that like TT.

They've gone so far as to rename the company TT Disconnect.

I can't comment as a competitor it goes against my ethics.

Edit: I can comment on TT Connect in Farrarmere (post #9), as I am a Farrarmere Resident.

Well then I look forward to your email on Friday, we are truly lost now if all 3 of the providers can't deliver

I am moving to Bonaero Park in a few months and TT Connect look like the only fibre provider that are digging or planning to dig in that area. This makes me highly concerned now. SADV literally just finished where live now but circumstances dictate the move.... and here I was looking forward to at least still moving somewhere that fibre will be...

The thing is, if they are they only provider in a area, we don't really have an option to go with them now, don't we?

We are going to sign with Blitz Fibre seeing as no other provider is willing to bite.
We've done all the due diligence that we can, and we will see how the build phase goes.

The Blitz fibre guys sounds like they are starting with a complex just up the road from me, I e-mailed them just now to find out if I can be included

Ahh okay, that's Boksburg West. I could PM you the details of a contact of mine at Blitz, if you'd like?
