Turkey eVisa query

Blame Lebogang Ndlovu

Fahim-Kazi-a-Bangladesh-national-was-arrested-last-month-after-he-tried-to-leave-South-Africa-with-a-passport-with-his-picture-and-the-name-Lebogang-Ndlovu

Looks a bit like a younger Nimesh Patel.

Looks like it might have been a clerical mistake and people at PTA embassy had no idea what was happening, so provided a default response. I just tried to get my e-visa now, website crashed a few times but all sorted.

That’s great but a BS explanation.

How does a “technical problem” generate a detailed and extensive list of visa document requirements specific to South Africa?

I suspect that when Turkish Airlines suddenly lost half its bookings across Africa the “technical problem“ magically resolved itself.

Finally got visas for myself and family after many many tries. Site still frustrating as ever with the 'I am not a robot CAPTCHA and site unavailable' crap.

Glad you sorted this is how my sega ended. Planning my 2 week stay in Serbia now :)

Hi, I know this isn't entirely the correct place but just had 2 questions if anyone could advise.

I have a connection in Istanbul that's about 3 hours, am I correct in assuming I don't need a Visa? I'm flying to Norway.
I need some kind of travel/baggage insurance but don't have a return date since I'll not be coming back. Any advice on where I can obtain insurance like this? All the places I've looked at require a return date and/or flight.

Thanks in advance!

You will likely not need a VISA, you can always just get an evisa it is free and intant

Question: I will be flying to Europe. I know that our aircraft will land in İstanbul. I am not planning to leave the transit lounge. Do I need to get transit visa?

Answer: If you will not leave the transit lounge at the airport you are not required to have transit visa. Otherwise, you have to make visa application to the nearest Turkish Representation. Contact information of the said missions can be reached through www.mfa.gov.tr (Ministry/Turkish Representations)

Insurance is complimentary with many credit cards if you bought your ticket on it.

Otherwise use TIC or Bryte

On a side note as you have no return ticket I am actually not sure if you will even be granted the VISA to enter Norway unless you have this already?

Thanks so much for the info and advice! I already have my residence permit for Norway so that's not an issue

ah then all you do is book the insurance for the day you leave plus 1-2 days after arrival to be safe
I see they still ask for a return date on both sites you mentioned. Do I just put a {return} date I want the insurance to end basically?

When I asked the same thing to Old Mutual they said that if I have a claim but no return flight then I'll be ineligible for making a claim. Never bothered with travel insurance before but since I'm taking a lot of stuff with, it wouldn't hurt to be safe, thus why I have no clue how it works.

I'm not sure best to call especially as you have a more unique situation.

Refunds were super quick

Money just landed in account 100% full refund - ABS AMAZING SERVICE!

I got a few comprehensive travel insurance quotes.

I depart SA at 9pm and return at 10am. Including the departure and return dates, which makes it a 16 day trip, the quotes were quite high. However, when I exclude the departure and return dates, the amount is nearly half the first quote. Very weird that 2 extra days, which are actually just 13 hours causes the amount to double.

If I were to go with the 2nd option, 14 days, would I still be covered if anything went south?

I doubt you would be covered and cutting the day there and back is just silly.

How much you paying?

My 16 days in Serbia are R870 capped out insurance with Bryte

It's R2200 for 16 days and R1300 for 14 days, this is with TIC (I bank and booked with FNB)
That increase is crazy maybe give Brite a shout you can use any place

Also was complimentary insurance not sufficient?

I always top up but thats just me, you dont need it.

Yea, same here.

FNB's complimentary cover doesn't offer much. I think Discovery medical aid offers similar benefits.

These are the only differences between the complimentary and Optimum cover.

I just checked Bryte, it's around R2900 for a similar plan.
