South Africa: Ordinary passport holders are required to have visa to enter Türkiye. Official passport holders are exempted from visa for their travels up to 30 days.

what a mess...
 
Jeez, I wonder why they are changing it. Does that mean you now have to go and apply at the embassy or something?

100% :(

The Turkey visa requirements are more onerous than schengen its just absolutely insane. Im going to have to change this part of the holiday, just to much to risk esp with police clearance requirement...

Literally got my visa on Monday from the same site....

Now I'm wondering if it'll be valid :oops:

Im sure it will its new applications that are the issue, likely changing from Turkey to Greece. The schengan allows access to serbia two birds with one visa
 
@Snyper564 is going to be so farking pissed off about the sudden fix - especially if Serbia (still) sucks ...

Turkey’s abrupt visa change sees SA going from getting 3 minute visa to waiting 10 to 15 working days

Travel agencies are warning their customers that their e-visas to enter Turkey (the country has recently changed its name to Türkiye) are not valid, even if they were issued online from 6 July 2022. Previously, South Africans could apply for an e-visa online, but seemingly without warning...

Have two sets of tickets still canceling turkey leg though. Gonna do Serbia properly :) will do turkey in the future

Too late, I have two sets of tickets canceling turkey tickets will go there in future. My wife needs to go to Serbia for a few days for work so will make the most of a destination we won't be going back to in the future. Turkey is central so will go there next time.

I'm super annoyed due to horrific communication, official websites were changed etc this "technical error" just cost me a 4k penalty. Is what it is tho... The tickets ultimately cost the same after penalty. Just rolling with it.

You need to understand that embassy communicated you need a visa with required docs including police certificate.

If I was told just wait a few days totally different story. Oh well

Yeah, that's a shame man. Just the wrong time for them to be having issues for you.

Its ok not great but ok :) Managed to sort out a pretty cool itinerary for Serbia so all good in the in end. Turkey will still be there in the future. Its just a "delayed" visit :)
