I still wanna do Cappadocia oneday. Last time I spent a week in Istanbul. Enjoyed it, but I feel I need to go back again.

In a bit of a dilemma since I have limited time (4 nights) for stay in Turkey. Should I visit Istanbul or Antalya?

The balloons were quite awesome. Went in 2017 and it was a bit quiet according to the pilot....if thats what the baloon man is called lol. But there was still like 70 odd balloons in the sky!

I booked flights to Turkey and will be travelling in October, I managed to get the e-Visa on Monday. Wonder if I should contact the Embassy just to triple check. I booked via Pentravel as they were the cheapest (Travelstart actually was but they seem like shysters), so no fancy refunds.

nah you should be fine was a "technical error" they tweeted about it as well. All good happy with my 2 weeks plan in Serbia will do Turkey next time.

How long did it take for the e-visa to Turkey?
 
I was in Turkey in June for three weeks.

We did a beach trip and was in Bodrum for five nights, Kas for five nights, Kalkan for four nights, Istanbul for three nights.

Turkey is as expensive or as cheap as you want to make it.

For example you can stay in a pensyon for R500 a night in Kas or on a hotel with nice seaview rooms and a pool for R1400 and up. We had a nice hotel for R2500 which was perfect for us. Hadrian Hotel.

Wine is expensive at between R250 and R500 a bottle. A big beer is between R40 and R80 depending where you buy.

A doner pita is R35 to R50.

An average meal in a restaurant is between R100 and R400 a plate depending what and where you eat. If you go to the backstreets and not sit on the beach to have supper the prices will fall to at least half of that.

Istanbul is slightly cheaper.

We stayed in tourist areas and thus the prices are higher. Supermarkets are very cheap, a 500 ml Coke is R7.

We had a great time and will definitely go back. It is very safe and the people are friendly.

The Grand Bazaar is over rated and expensive. The shops around the bazaar are much cheaper.

Pay everything with your card as withdrawing cash is expensive. I used Samsung Pay and it worked perfectly, you can also use your card in taxis.

Booking.com does not work without a VPN. If you are flexible then get walk in rates, some places were half of the Internet prices.
