Turkey travel tips

Has anyone here been to Cappadocia? I would LOVE to go.

Definitely worthwhile to stop there for a couple of days

Question regarding Istanbul: Is it worth the cost staying in a hotel with a good view of the Bosphorus? This is something my husband wants to do. I simply had it in my head to stay in the Sultanahmet area.

Watch this

Odd question though the overall location for me is more important than the view.

I mean how long are you staying in the hotel staring out the window? if most of the day then NB :P

I won't pay extra for the view, rather spend that extra money on a bigger / better room, unless you are planning to sit and watch the boats on the river.

We stayed in Taksim, just off istiklal, for the same reasons mentioned in the video.
We would go out in the morning to the various sites and make our way back to taksim - various public transport options available. Then we didnt have to travel very far in the evening for the night life/dinner etc

Same here and I found the restaurants to be generally cheaper than on the Sultanahmet side. We stayed about 100 meters from Istiklal street. Istiklal must be one of the busiest shopping streets in the world, that place is crazy.

Nevizade Street is lined with small restaurants and is mostly filled by Turks, we had some great nights there. https://goo.gl/maps/BZWrWhqpALmCRQ9x9

We walked down to the bazaars past Galata Tower and took a taxi back most of the time.

We arrived there just after midnight and went for dinner at 1:30am - the streets were packed. All ages from babies in prams to grand parents

I am confused. You say it is for free, but the website you linked refers to payment??
only use this one

The rest are sites that make you pay for it, thats the official site I linked.
Should have it within 30 min, you can apply now already anyway

I presume they require flight details during the application process?
You can actually access everything and just go through the application to see whats needed I think general dates are sufficient its issued electronically I dont think any flight details were needed
