TV anchor robbed by gunmen

LOL :D

It would be nice if you could add a comment indicating your views on the topic or something other than just the quote. After all, you must have started the thread for a reason.

Quite correct.

My view is that now when South Africans turn on the telly in the morning the 2 faces that greet them have both been directly affected by violent crime.
Sobering, worrying, depressing. :(

She should count herself very very lucky.

She's damn hot.... The robber could have raped here.
Hope she's ok though

We need the death penalty reinstated to remove such people from society.

I am not against it, but that will do nothing unless we have an effective justice and policing system which is in tatters.

No, she is not lucky, she was attacked at gunpoint. There is no "Well luckily she is still alive/not raped etc" She is now mentally scarred for life. Some people WISH they were dead after one of those experiences.

Ths "Luckily........[fill in the blanks]" is a self justification for apathy. Adding to the scenario with an even more Grim picture just dilutes the fact she was attacked in HER OWN HOUSE... She is fortunate to be ok, but she is no-where near lucky.

Its not tolerable. Why should people live in secure complexes with Rotewilers / guns / security guards.. and STILL get attacked.

Its not acceptable at all!

In now way did I condem the attack.

I'd be as pissed off if I had to live like that - let alone having to question its effectiveness.

Yes it could have been worse. But once the term "she or he is lucky" is used, people just move on and forget the seriousness of the ordeal. She was not lucky, she was attacked and tied up in her home.

The other favorite term these days which gets thrown around so much, "its her fault, she did not activate here alarm, or she should have done this or that or had that...."

Chill mate.

U little cross cos NZ is out of the RWC ?

She's lucky. That is it, the moment she realizes that the quicker she'll heal mentally. Unlike you we live with this everyday. We rather count our blessing than sit and cry over spilt milk.

Yes it should not have happened. Fact is it did and it could have been worst. She'll get thru it, we all do.

Sorry Pitbull... I just saw red when I reading the "Luckily she is OK" and "Could have been worse". I hear that every day and every time someone says it, they say it with a smile. Its becoming a self justification that someone else is OK after a heartless Bast@rd has just invaded their personal space, and everything is OK.

After that, no-one thinks about the persons mental anguish and suffering. Being alive is all that counts? Would you want to sleep every night and replay the attack in your dreams ? Night after night? the same attack?

As I said, she is fortunate to be alive, but luck has nothing to do with it..... She would not have been attacked in the first place if it was for 'Luck'. What did their neighbors say? "Luckily it wasnt us!"

Sorry Pitbull, the camels back is now broken! (I must have got out the wrong side of the bed!.. cos I am really worked up about Mr Selebi and his crime fighting ability)

Now we see it the same way :)

It is a real traumatic experiance. We in SA unfotunately are forced to live with and we try our best to overcome the strain attacked to it. And ur right, we're currently force to see the upside in things that has become a daily occurence in our lives. Which should not be the case

What does that have to do with this thread dude? Last time I checked I was still a south african living in NZ, supporting South Africa.

Just a little humour mate ;)

We see this the same way, we're both just to passionate about the subject. Makes the conversation rather tense
