twitter is not there for you to express yourself. twitter is a tool for disseminating information across the globe as fast as possible. Honestly, as soon as someone says the word "facebook" and "twitter" in the same sentence, I immediately know they've missed the point.

As been mentioned Twitter is gr8 for realtime searching of news events typical example was in the Iranelections, you search for the hashtags #iranelections and when you search for it on Twitter it collates all the tweets about the elections.

Great for realtime tweets in civil disasters.
Great for when a Albion bakery has freshly baked bread tweets - first come first serve using BakerTweet device

Great for my hoot alerts when the owls come to visit the nest in my Spotted Eagle Owl webcam
