Hi all,

I would like to set up a Wi-Fi network for the residents at the complex I live in.

Our exchange supports max. 10mbps ADSL so I'd like to know if it would be recommended to get two 10 meg lines and implement load balancing to "sort of" make it a 20 Meg line?

If so, how many users could I support at 2meg connections each?

You can get a "bonded" line from say Vox, or implement it yourself with a mikorik router and 2 DSL modems. Personally I'd take the second option and have the two lines on different ISPs for redundancy.

Peplink make great devices for load balancing but they cant bond lines.

Hi Zsam,

We'll be happy to assist you with this.

From our DrayTek range, the Vigor2925 router along with 2x Vigor130 DSL modems, is the best recommendation for your application.

Features of the Vigor2925 include:
  • Tri-WAN: 2 x Ethernet WAN and USB for 3G/LTE modem/NAS/printer
  • Load-balancing and fail-over across all WAN connections
  • 5 gigabit LAN ports
  • 50 VPN tunnels
  • Central WiFi access point management for use with DrayTek WiFi APs
  • Recommended for up to 50 users

The toplogy would be as follows:

TelkomLine1->Vigor130-DSLport->Vigor2925WAN1
TelkomLine2->Vigor130-DSLport->Vigor2925WAN2

You could then load-balance across those 2 lines, with optional fail-over to USB 3G/LTE for one of- or both of- the DSL connections.

For WiFi, you could then use VigorAP 900 or VigorAP 910C to cover all or part of the area. The number of APs required will depend on the environment. Both of these AP's may be provisioned and managed centrally from within the Vigor2925 router's WebUI.

To get an idea of how easy it is to configure this, check out the Vigor2925 WebUI Live Web Demo here.. The Central AP/Wireless Management feature is in the menu on the left.

Give a shout for further info, or to connect with a reseller in your area.
