Hi guys, hope this is the right place to ask. Was doing some shopping this morning and two of my CC were declined. FNB and Bluebean. Virgin Money worked. Tried phoning, but it is saying is out of working hours and I will have to call tomorrow. Anyone else having problems this morning. Later have tried both cards again and this time FNB worked, but Bluebean was declined again. I'm little bit worry, since I'm going overseas in just few days and don't want to have similar problem while there. And of course Murphy's law, most of my money are on the Bluebean card :( I have phoned to tell them, that I will be overseas.

Had issues with my Nedbank card on a fnb machine and standard bank atm. On about the 3rd attempt it went through on the fnb machine.

Around 11ish today.

Thanks guys, I just found it so strange both cards to be declined. As I said FNB worked little bit later, but Bluebean still did not. First time around 12:30, secon around 13:30. What worries me a bit is that i bought quite a big thing from Amazon and now I'm not sure if the payment went through or not, or maybe that is why my card is suspended. Standard bank phoned me yesterday to confirm that i did the payment and i confirmed it was me, but who knows and know suddenly my card declines. Just wanted to now if other users have the same problem. Funny that you can not get through to any of the banks. I thought it is a 24/7 support for those CCs. Obviously not. Well will have to wait till tomorrow to find out.
Thanks again guys.
Just read the article, did not they have connectivity problem just like a month ago and people could not use their cards?

And thats why I carry 3 personal cards (plus a corporate one when overseas). Really don't want to be stuck somewhere & unable to pay...

Real men carry cash.

Real men carry cash.

I expect there are very few drug dealers that accept debit/credit card payments considering that cash payments are typically difficult to trace along with crypto currency transactions.

Drug dealers accept whatever payment a real man gives them, especially if it's a well deserved beating.

All my credit cards work.

Just make sure you inform all your credit card bureau how long you'll be abroad and to which countries you'll be visiting.. Don't be like other people that arrive on the other and on arrival their credit cards don't work cause they forgot to mention to their bank they going abroad. Happen to a friend of mine abroad luckily the hotel allowed him to call me and sorted everything in less than an hour

I was unaware of any problems, both my credit and cheque cards worked on Sunday (albeit in the afternoon).

Assaulting drug dealers might backfire, the better way for a real man to deal with drug dealers is to encourage the dealer to use their own products all at once.

Also had an issue with my ABSA credit card this morning on Takealot. Did not want to make the payment. Ended up making an instant EFT.

Did you check the declined receipt for the response code / reason? I always insist on it when it happens, cashiers usually won't know wtf you're on about but the system receives the reason for the card to be declined.

The reason is a two digit response code so you may not be able to tell off hand, but sometimes the receipt has a short text description of the response code too. If it's anything related to a network or comms error or something like "issuer unavailable" it has nothing to do with the card and is likely an outage somewhere.
