hi

i need to know if it is possible to have two isp's for adsl at the same time, because i want to keep my email adress with mweb but i would also like to got a larger(cheaper) cap with someone else,

Thanx for the help

Hey imac,

That is defenitely possible! It would require you to switch between the two accounts though :)

Kind regards,

Yes with complications.. i think mweb goes thru SAIX thus uses their smtp server. now if the 2nd adsl account is an IS account you will be blocked from sending mail cause your ip will not be on the saix network. I think most isp's are moving over to IS.. alternatively ask you 2nd isp what their smtp server is and change it when you switch acc's.

Note you can recieve mail fine though regardless

You can use both at the same time - you just need to pay for 2 isps.

Eg you can have a kingsley account and mweb account.

You can download your mweb e-mails on your kinsley account and visa versa

just means you pay twice - best bet is to have one adsl account and a standard E-mail account with other isp.

thats c**p and he does not know what he is talking about... you just need to change your pop3 and smtp settings depending on what isp account you are using.

Eg [email protected] is mail.mweb.co.za

to send it though a kingsley account you need to change the smtp to mail.kingsley.co.za and it will work fine.

try sending thru smtp.saix.net from an is account. try it! if both isp's on saix it will work no doubt.

i dont think so! - i know u have to go in everytime and change username and passwords.

do want the router to autoswitch or something?

u can bridge the connection and then make 2 broadband connections on your pc's - that will work.

The easiest way is to pay MWeb R26 p/m just for a mail box. Cancel the ISP portion and access your mweb email from your new ISP.
Thats what i did

The reason is not for email.
Just a consideration for OpenWeb's new plan to have two seperate ADSL accounts.

As for the email: I pay R39 for webhosting, that includes most bells and whistles as well as pop and smtp and I have my own domain name. So changing ISP is relatively painless.

Which I forward to my current ISP's pop to save paying double bandwidth, ie. webhosting and ISP.
