I'm not sure what is meant by protection order. Sounds like they were protecting the person that started this mess.

Either removing a child from a dangerous\abusive home or removing an individual from near a school\church\home\person etc who has broken a restraining order.
 
Trio nabbed less than 24 hours after KZN cop slaying

Durban - Less than 24 hours after the brutal slaying of an Inanda policeman and the attempted murder of his partner on Tuesday, KwaZulu-Natal police swooped on three men linked to the killing.

Two police sources with knowledge of the incident confirmed that three men had been arrested in Mariannhill on Wednesday.

The sources said that two guns stolen from the officers, as well as a third unlicensed firearm, were recovered in the raid.

It is understood that the three are being held at the Mariannhill Police Station while forensic evidence is gathered.

Tactical police members swooped on a home in Namibia Section in the township just hours after the slaying and recovered an AK47, as well as police uniforms and gear stolen during the attack.

The three had been on the run for less than a day.

News24 can reveal that two of the three, whose names have not yet been released, are already accused of murdering a man during a tavern brawl in Inanda in July.

A police source with knowledge of the initial murder, who also could not be named, said the pair were due to appear in court next week.

It is understood that the murder victim had intervened in a fight at the tavern before he was stabbed to death.

After their arrest on the previous murder charge, the pair had appeared in court and had been released on free bail.

Yesterday the two officers are understood to have approached one of the suspects to serve a protection order on him, after his girlfriend had complained that she feared for her life.

The two police officers were seemingly overpowered and stripped of their guns before they were driven to a field nearby and shot multiple times, leading to the death of the male officer.

They should seriously rethink our judiciary and how they issue bail to serious killers and offenders.

Thus our Judiciary yet again failed our dead and injured policeman by releasing hardened criminals. Wake up Zuma you are a idiot at large!
