I heard Papi Molotsane speaking on Radio 2000 this evening. He claimed that Telkom were on course to reduce installation lead times to two weaks for ADSL lines!

This despite all the job cuts at Telkom. Apparently they are going to achieve this by "doing things differently". Riiiight...

Hi MCJ

Papi also mentioned this at the results today...he said that a pilot they ran in Tshwane showed that they can have a lead time of 2 weeks. Here they outsource most of the work I think...

Regards,

RPM

Running a pilot in Tshwane is like shooting something at point blank range. Tshwane has the best Telkom service in the country. Why not run a pilot where it aint so good, that should give a better indication.

Why do you say this? I live in Pretoria and people I know waited 3months for their ADSL...

My last installation was done by a 3rd party "sub contractor" of Telkom (On a Saturday nogals)... Wonder if they're not just getting more contractors to deal with the installations then...

Just to add to this, I was pleasantly surprised by reports from a couplel of my friends who had ADSL installations done recently. Time between ordering and installation was indeed very close on two weeks :)
