Tyre Brand Recommendations please

Michelin PS5 is superb. Bought my XF with Dunlop (about 40% tread left), and they were noisy as f**k (car also handled worse than my X-Type on Pilot Sport 4, which should definitely not be the case). Had them replaced with Pilot Sport 5 - problem solved. Not putting my life in the hands of tyres that bubble when you just stare at them the wrong way.

Dunlop still do this k@k ?
I remember buying SP7000D over 15 yrs ago. Worst tires ever. And bubbled.

On another note. 2 friends of mine got the new Goodyear Eagle F1 and claim they equal of not better than PS4/5 in our conditions. And cheaper. One drives a clubsport and another clio RS. Might try those next.

Can anyone vouch for Apollo Tyres? I’ve seen a few cars with them while getting my alignment done.

Do not touch. Mine lasted 25000km till completely bald, and grip in the wet was disconcertingly bad the whole time I had them. Cheap rubbish. (I had the Apollo Aspire 235/45R18).

Using Good Year Eagle F1 in the Audi works well in wet and dry

Using Achilles on the GTI bloody great set of rubber in the dry in the wet its good

Goodyear Eagle F1 and claim they equal of not better than PS4/5 in our conditions.

Definitely not a bad tyre. Had some favourable results in some comparative tests. Haven't had personal experience with them, though.

recently replaced my PS4 for the goodyear eagle F1 asymmetric 6 on my daily as they are slighly cheaper.Both proper quality , but difficult to decide which are better.At the moment both my subarus are running on the goodyear eagle f1s.

For me it's simple. I'm just not good enough to explore the limit. So for me eagle F1, PS5. Same same. I chicken out way before I truly break the limit on track.

Goodyear and Michelin are the best. Shop around, if you're willing to drive out a bit, you'll find 'township pricing' to be much cheaper than closer to the city or larnie suburbs.

Never skimp on tyres...

I had Michelin Pilot Primacy on a car about 10 years ago. On 2 tyres, pieces of the tyre began to fall off after 20k and expose the wall inside. I went to Michelin itself to complain and was told it must be because I was driving offroad with road tyres.

My car was a low, low sedan that could barely clear a speed bump.

i will not touch Michelin again ever, its rubbish

Primacy is mid range. You pay for what you get, in any brand. Any car enthusiast would laugh at you basing an entire brand on your subjective experience with cheaper tyres.

The fact that the cheaper tyres I put on after the Michelins that lasted 60k KM is not reflection on Michelin's high quality

you pay for what you get does not excuse a tyre literally disintegrating in my book

Not really relevant if you just drive on the road, my a-plus tyres on my doublecab handle just fine at 160km/h in wet weather.

It is laughable to suggest that you need a top of the range brand name tyre to do 110km/h in traffic. I see these "sport car" snobs hogging the fast lane and not even driving the speed limit.

Strange, I have had nothing but excellent service and great all weather grip from Michelin tyres on various vehicles, from commercial to performance. They are simply the best, superior to every single other brand that I have tried. First time that I have ever heard someone with a complaint like this, if it were Continental, then sure, but never Michelin.

I agree with you. At the end of the day, rubber is rubber, and budget tyres are no problem for any conservative driver.

My best has been Bridgestone, they're just rock solid. But they don't last as long as some, i don't mind though its just tread wear.

I'm glad Michelin has been good for you. I might in future give them a run again, was just not happy at how they handle something that was clearly an issue with their tyres.
