TyTN II & Wifi

This morning I tried to set up my TyTN II to connect to my home network. It worked like a charm - detected the network, asked for the key, and connected fine.

But I'm having a problem using it to browse the net. What I could do on my old TyTN is disconnect the GPRS connection, enable wifi, and then browse the net on the wifi connection. I don't seem to be able to do this on the TyTN II - every time I try to load a website, it tries to re-enable the GPRS/3G connection, regardless of whether the wifi connection is enabled or not. There must be some way to get it to work like the TyTN did, surely?
 
So no-one has any idea?

Does exactly the same thing to me on my HP iPAQ 614c ... must be a "feature" of the operating system. I posted a support ticket on the HP website about it.
 
Hmmm, can't get mine to connect the wlan at work so I can't test right now. I'll give it a shot from home over the weekend.

I assume when you added the WLAN to the phone you specified Connects To: "The Internet", and not "Work"?

Yes, I did. I've also deleted the grps proxy, which HTC suggests on their FAQ page.

I emailed them, and they told me to install the patch on their website - except that the only patches relate to bluetooth and the camera (I'm going to install them over the weekend anyway, just in case). The second and third time I emailed they just ignored me :(
 
I have bad news, mine works like a charm. I'm using my wlan right now, it doesn't try to connect using gprs at all. Are you still running Windows Mobile 6.0? I flashed mine with 6.1 as soon as I got it, not sure if that might explain it.
 
I often switch between WiFi/3G on my WM PDA without a problem.

It's all on how set up the confusing 'work' / 'internet' settings.

I've got both WiFi and the GPRS set to 'connect to internet' and my MMS apn to 'work'.

Specifically check if you've got your WiFi settings set to 'internet'. It sounds like your device want to start up its 'internet' connection (GPRS) when you try and browse. But if your WiFi is already connected to the 'internet' it should just use it.
 
Thanks for all the advice, I finally got it working.

I think what happened was that initially it wasn't working because of the proxy; but while I was figuring that out, I was playing around with the work/internet settings. When I deleted the proxy it should have worked, but I'd switched the wifi connection to 'work' and forgotten to switch it back :o
