Hi,

I am a new Ubuntu user, (used Ubuntu for a few years on and off on various live disks, computers on campus etc.) but over the past six months I have switched to Ubuntu for pretty much 50 - 60% of the time my PC is on.

I am currently running 10.11, would you recommend switching as soon as the new release is available (end of April), in addition, is it possible to rollback to a previous version?

Regards

How soon to switch? Depends on how willing you are are to have a few bugs. If you want complete stability, wait a couple of weeks after release for the major bugs to be sorted out.

It is possible to upgrade, but you won't be able to roll back without a reinstall (as far as I know).

Remember to backup your data!

Hope this helps :)

Wait a month or two before taking the plunge. I don't think you can rollback.

For stability and PC's I have to work with I always use LTS only ie: 10.04 Example my Desktop PC

For PC's that I play around with and dont care if it crashes I normally run the latest as soon as its released Example my Media center PC

I've been using 11.04 since alpha 2. It's beautiful, and much nicer than classic Gnome (IMHO; many people would strongly disagree).

However, I'm not yet convinced it's completely stable. It has been getting progressively more stable, but as suggested by Hawker I would wait a couple of weeks from the release date.
